Hi,
This blog is intended to keep me accountable to my Bankroll Management plan and see it grow in the right direction.
My goal right now is to have a $100 profit month and take things from there. I was well on my way until...
Last night, I found myself struck by a moment of insane boredom playing my full ring single-table game of .50/1 LHE. I decided to open 2 6-max tables of .50/1 LHE after reading half a book on short-handed strategy, and promptly donked off a good portion of my monthly earnings (at one point it was ALL of my winnings on Full Tilt for that month, but I made some back).
I was at $45 profit just on Full Tilt alone for December. I'm now at $8.30 profit on Full Tilt.
My Bankrolls are currently:
Full Tilt = $374.24....was a beautiful $412 :-( Net Profit: $8.30
Ultimate Bet = $57.26...Net Profit: $7.26
CD Poker = $65.54...Net Profit: $15.54
Titan Poker = 40.47 Euros (dormant account, withdrawn to add to Full Tilt account)
Doyle's Room = $22.50 (played two Pro Bounty tourney's)
Current Total Bankroll: $519.54 + 40.47 Euros.
Current Total December Winnings: $31.10
Given that we're one third of the way through December, and I'm still one third of the way to my goal, I'm simply now "right on track" instead of "way ahead".
But being only "right on track" hurts so much since I didn't have to donk most of my winnings off. Last night was enough of a wake-up call to make myself accountable. So I've made a Bankroll Safeguard List:
Sam's Poker Bankroll Safeguard List
-Update this Blog regularly so people can see that I'm sticking to my plan and call me on it if I'm not
-Play at a Full-Ring Turbo/Speed table so I don't get sooo bored single-tabling
-If I do want to multi-table (comfortable 2-tabling, getting used to more), drop down a limit and play 2 Full-Ring Turbo/Speed Tables (with the same amount I would usually bring to the higher limit table divided between the two tables)
-If I must work on my short-handed game (which I must), do it at the micro-stakes level on my Ultimate Bet account, working my way up the levels. Keep my Full Tilt account for serious, full-ring, +EV poker. Make my Ultimate Bet account the learning account.
-As I'm sure I have not thought of everything, I will update this Safeguard List as needed to further safeguard my bankroll.
It's funny how I put such a premium on playing winning poker, and yet can succumb to such moments of stupidity that I need to make a Poker Bankroll Safeguard List to protect what I've worked so hard to earn. I consider myself a rational person but tilting is completely irrational...
I already did this once before on Poker Stars. Grinded $150 to $435, then lost $200 playing 1/2 PLO (cause I wanted to play above my bankroll with Chris Moneymaker) when I flopped the nut straight and was re-raised all-in by some dude with a flush draw. Of course I called. Of course he hit it. Donked off the other $85 when that tilted me. Then took $200 to the casino playing 200NL, got my money in with top two pair (KQ) against two villains who both called my reraise with middle-pair (they were holding AQ on a board of K3Q). And of course the miracle A hit on the turn.
So, having grinded some decent winnings before, why did I do this again last night? I asked myself that and realized it was the last straw. Time to treat my poker bankroll as money EARNED, not money WON.
Thanks everybody.
Full Tilt Graph Coming Soon - any suggestions on best hosting site? Not digging Image Shack so much but if that's the best option for here, then that's what I'll use
