Hello I am Gawdless73, I started playing poker about 8 years ago although I stopped playing for maybe 5 of those as I had other things to focus on. As my title says I am a very distracted MTT player. I love the game but trying to find the time to focus seriously is difficult, trying to get through a MTT many days is a stretch. See I am a father of 4 my 2 daughters are mostly grown and moved on (though one is living on my couch atm...), I spent several years raising 2 foster daughters who came from pretty vile backgrounds and now find myself as a single dad to 2 absolutely wonderful special needs boys who inspire me as my personal railbirds.
Now to Poker after a few years off of the game I started playing again I always did moderately well playing MTT's and some MTSNG's and SNG's thrown in depending on time and how crazy life is, I am going to start this blog a little past its actual starting point of about a month ago because as I mentioned it is hard to find free time. When I started playing again I had $65 at Pokerstars as my starting bankroll. I also signed on at Full Tilt and Cake (yeah yeah I know) through PokerStrategy. I received 10 $1 tickets and 2 $5 ring game tickets I do believe there. The ring game tickets were appreciated but for some odd reason I just blow hard at cash games.
Here are a couple tales from my latest tournaments.... graphic content may follow....
We finally hit the final 2 tables of a tournament I place 2nd in through Pokerstrategy. My one son has been a little sick and they are both hanging with me as I play being railbirds. The sick boy suddenly starts yelling that his mouth hurts and proceeds to throw up all over me. As I try to get into the shower with him I ask my 11 year old to sit in front of the game and if he gets 2 A's or 2 k's press bet all, fold all other hands. in 3 minutes I come back and from the 10 K chips I had he hit kings once and aces once and more than quadrupled my chips to about 45K. After that it was a juggle of sick kid and a lot of low stacks I managed to outwait. I got heads up at about a 1-10 chip underdog, fought back to almost 50-50 then made a horrible read and that was all for me 2 hands later. Still $70 in a freeroll while your kid barfs on you is not too bad 8)
Another and quite possibly my favourite moment even though I only won a couple $2.50 tourney tickets was having to afk to take care of the boys, in decent shape in a tournament where top 80 all got tickets. I come back and there are 81 people left, I have been forced in on the small blind and all anyone really has to do is sit out and I will be the bubble. So...some genius shoves a pair of 4's, get called by AK, I have 62o, I hit 2 pairs an Ace hits, I win, AK wins 4's lose and go out in 81st place. I couldn't stop laughing at my fortune.
Some of my interesting cashes recently, there have been several others for smaller amounts and many hair pulling awful under 5% runner runners knocking me out of big tourneys.
Full Tilt Pokerstrategy weekly $500 Freeroll 2nd place for $70
Cake Poker weekly 1K freeroll 1st place $120
Full Tilt Pokerstrategy weekly $500 Freeroll 4th place for $38.50
Hopefully at some point I will find the time to come in and make this all pretty, colour coded, graphs, posted hands, but realistically I am lucky to get through most days sane so its unlikely to happen.

I am doing my best to study and have found Collin Moshmans videos particularly helpful to single one coach out, though many others have helped as well.
What I really need to work on
Not playing scared, when as a single dad I am figuring out what needs to be bought with winnings its hard to push for 1st all the time at risk for busting out for $0 even if 1st is always best. Not playing, waiting to get sucked out on when the cards are running bad.
Tilting, not sure I could ever play live, I could see permanent casino bans as I hoped table to throttle the dude who just took food out of my boys mouths lol. I need to be able to get my head back into the game faster.
Shoving all in to make up for my mediocre post flop play, also somewhat stemming from potentially playing scared.
Thanks for reading
