Is there anything that I could have done to avoid this ? Do you consider checking the flop? I would have got it in otf anyway with these stacksizes.

Don't think "could I have avoided this" as that sounds like you think you made a mistake. If you are getting it in postflop, then the only question is should you call that min 3bet of 4bet yourself. Once you do 4bet, of course you get it in on the flop. As SPR is 2, I would bet smaller to induce a bluff (smaller bet creates illusion of folding equity for opponent).
