Dont listen to what people say on poker tables. Specially, when u win a big pot against the one who is saying things.

The reason for that is bc in poker everyone is playing there with their own money, and fighting to win more. Its not a friendly enviroment, its war! And if u are good, u are taking money from them.

In this hand, clearly the fishy play was made by villain. J4 is almost NEVER a call pre in first place.

Without any info on villain I would not call his shove on the turn.

I do not know to statistically collect info on live tables. So I just see how tight ppl play over the first 20/30 hands and decide who is a fish and who is solid. On that basis, I categorized this guy to be playing like 7/10 hands and eventually going down 80% of the time.

wow, seven on ten hands is really active. Well played, imo. Not that often he ll have that ace on turn.

This is a live game?

No this was online. But I did not collect any stats. But I'm trying to learn to play in live games, so this helps my strategy of reading players better there instead of using the numbers.

I see... playing without HUD. This ll help u w being able to have a better grasp by observation, for sure.

You should carefully watch how they behave, and see what they show on showdowns.

Yeah I'm practicing that and so far I have improved over the past 2 months making consistent wins with my observation and reading of hands without these stats. I'm sure this is gonna improve.

Yes it might help you just a little in your live games but doing this you sacrifice your edge in online poker and you can not exploit players so well. Also you have to remember that dynamics in live games are a lot different. In online poker the amount of information you can have is a lot smaller. If you play without knowing your opponents stats, it will not help you improve your live reads much.

Oh OK. I get the point now. I ll try to learn about the HUD and also implement it in the near future. Thanks a lot on that.

Its all about where are u wanting to improve and be good. If its online, better start to use HUDs, if its developing skills for LIVE play, playing without it ll make u more aware whats going on.

Flop
Straight drawy board.
H OOP Cbets 80%pot with toppair and overcard. V calls Pot is 19.5bb
Turn
Ace makes straight possible. FDy board.
H checks. V bets 36bb all in. Pot has grown to 55bb. H has to act.

Question
Can H call profitably?
H knows V enters a hand 7 out of 10 hands. H also knows V calls many streets and goes down 80%.
What is the meaning of V's massive overbet?
I do not know. The pot odds vs H's equity with no card removeal for V justifies a call.
