What kind of tourney is this? How to approach??

Hi Guyz,

I participated in a local $25 buy in tournament here. But I wanted to know like is this superfast tournament as the blinds kept going high every 15 mins. Also, how to approach this tourney? Should I be aggressive? Should I play small ball? Should I wait for the perfect kind of cards?

Tourney Details:
$25 buy-in.
Levels up every 15 mins.
Starting chips - 8000
Blinds start at 25/50
Then they raise to 50/100, 100/200, 150/300 ,200/400 and so on along with the respective antes.

I felt after level 4 or so, I did not have too many BBs to continue playing the small ball game as I did earlier. So I had to bet bigger and ultimately lose but it was a nice experience. I want to improve in the tourney and place better next time I play. Please provide your suggestions on this?

It’s a variance heavy tournament based on the blind structure. So you need to play a lot of tournaments to kill the variance and that wouldn’t happen with live tournaments. So I would play those tournaments only for fun if I had money to spare.

I played quite a few similar tourneys in my local casino and you have to play poker no rocket science pick your spots, in those tourneys people usually play post flop casino hope game so you can take advantage of that, since its 25 buyin here are 35+ euros, full of rec pl;ayers that came to gamble and be passive and wanna hit cards rather than play real poker, so you can just take advantage of this and play good poker picking good spots to take pots away, and position is a holy grail in live soft games.

p.s. : play the board more often then your cards
