This was on the final table with 6 players left.
I was in the big blind facing a full 3x from UTG. This was his standard raise sizing from any position.

His stats were sort of nitty so this was probably a fold. At best I'm flipping since I doubt he's raising any worse pair from that position.

I ended up shoving and hitting quad 8s... but that's beside the point :f_biggrin:

Would you have shoved, or waited for a better spot?
I ended up finishing 4th place and busting in AA vs QQ with a Q on the flop, so I guess the luck came back around. :f_mad:
Did I mention the guy with Qs was Russian...

I don’t know how the prize structure looks like, but you are far the short stack and you have most likely not too much fold equity. Even without the prize pool info I would shove as short stack with 88 and try to double up here.

I guess a list of the prize structure would have helped in this scenario. It looked something similar to this.

1st - $360
2nd - $260
3rd - $190
4th - $140
5th - $100
6th - $80

My reasoning for calling was similar to your thinking. I was in need of a double up and if I was to pass up a hand this good I would probably just end up blinding away. The table was very aggressive giving me very limited room to steal the blinds with a shove. 9/10 times there was a raise in front of me and like you said I had no fold equity. Good thing I hit quads right? :f_tongue:

That for sure, but I expect it’s unlucky that you walked in to better in this scenario and lucky that you hit quads here.

With no fold equity on later hands, I think 88 is a shove here too, and I would expect a lot of calls from broadway hands that you have a slight advantage against.
