hello,

same issue as with QQ overpair : what is he raising here on this dry flop. I don't expect him to have JT here so looks like 99/33 or Qx overplaying his hand.

he is also very tight so doesn't seem to be a bluffy type.

MP: $10.42 (VPIP: 7.10, PFR: 6.56, 3Bet Preflop: 2.56, Hands: 187)
CO: $10.00 (VPIP: 15.66, PFR: 11.04, 3Bet Preflop: 4.36, Hands: 4,111)
BTN: $7.52 (VPIP: 11.11, PFR: 7.41, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 27)
SB: $2.45 (VPIP: 30.00, PFR: 10.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 21)
Hero (BB): $10.13
UTG: $10.00 (VPIP: 16.67, PFR: 13.79, 3Bet Preflop: 1.59, Hands: 352)
UTG+1: $10.17 (VPIP: 11.11, PFR: 8.33, 3Bet Preflop: 3.85, Hands: 290)

SB posts SB $0.05, Hero posts BB $0.10

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.15) Hero has K♠ K♣

fold, UTG+1 raises to $0.30, MP calls $0.30, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $1.20, fold, MP calls $0.90

Flop: ($2.75, 2 players) 9♦ Q♣ 3♠
Hero bets $1.44, MP raises to $2.88, fold

Spoiler

MP wins $5.38

Call. You have an overpair (possibly representing much less because it was inviting to squeeze) and get big odds.

yeah, normally I also would say call but he plays over 200 hands 7/6/2.5

So I would assume he calls +/- 3.5 % (he would have 3bet KK+ himself)
That is 99-QQ, AQs+, AKo

with what hand would he be reraising this flop then ?
99/QQ as value
TT/JJ/AKo as bluff
AQs protection ?

and given his tight image I don't see him bluffing.

But I can understand the opinions of being it too tight

MJPerry,

do you think it's a call then ?

Yeah I don't want to fold an overpair to one raise; a minraise no less. He has 6 combos of hands we're behind but 12 combos we're ahead of if we assign him that very tight range of AQ/sets.

We can call flop and turn then?

Just read the bolded part of the next line, then fold.

When a 7 - 6 - 2.5 rock flats 2 then flats 3 in a full ring game, you should be starting to wonder which pocket pair he holds.

If you cbet and he raises on any flop you should get the hell out of the way.

This was a perfect fold. QQ is the short priced favourite here for a double call pre (flat vs UTG+1 originally), minraise post flop. Absolute worst hand he has is an AA trap. This rock likely doesn't even play JTs in middle position, won't have called the 3 with AQ much, and sure as water is wet would almost never raise with either of them postflop in a 3bet pot.

Calling here is wasting money. If a rock like this raises you should leave the hand, walk away from the table and hide somewhere at the other end of the card room.

Villain is very very tight but he has 3bet range so I assume he would 3bet KK+ at least. OTF he has 99,QQ,AQ and vs that we have 56%. I just don't want to fold to a raise even if he is tight Maybe I'm a fish.

You never know when and how villain will decide to play tricky... Tom Dwan mode on... :)

I would call here. You've got an overpair and good odds. This fold is too tight, in my opinion.

0.5% difference between vpip and pfr? his range is probably literally only pocket pairs here

I also play play FR at this limit and here is my 2 cents.

I think you gave him correct 3bet calling range from MP, maybe your squeeze size could be around 15bb. Like you mentioned his calling rang consist of 99&QQ so when he minraise you in 3bet pot he'll be raising for value, mainly sets. He could be slowplaying AA IP but I think he would 4bet with monsters. If you call, you'll be OOP with difficult spot with 40bb in pot.

I personally sometimes call flop but against 7/6 rock it's a crying (tight) fold.

Calling here may be losing versus this one particular opponent. You know he is tight preflop, but you can only believe he is tight and incapable of bluffing postflop. Just don't get into the habit of folding to min-raises getting 5:1 holding overpairs. That would be a losing proposition versus the population (some like "raise for information" or "finding out where they stand"), and very dangerous to sustain at higher limits where people take notes on such behavior. I take such notes even when playing freerolls:megusta:

I'd be more than happy for a more standard reg to note that I folded that spot and try to exploit it. Our range at this point is narrow as can be - we 3bet a nit UTG. No more standard player is pushing me off my OP OTF with a minraise. Folding this spot is all about the rock we face, and not a general population decision.

I would argue a good reg - even armed with this "read" on us - probably doesn't use info raises in their game these days, so AQ or KQs probably call flop and evaluate IP on the turn. I would also expect passive draws more often with JT than bluffraises with it OTF as his outs are possibly blocked but carry HUGE implied odds (EG K hits the turn - every non-bluff holding we held preflop is now a made hand of some kind and can pay).

Bluffshoving JT here and getting crying called by KK would be a complete disaster, funnily enough worse even than being snapped by top set by 2% equity.

JTs here would instead be a fantastic spot to float the turn and push us off our AK cbet and any bluff squeeze combos, though in this specific spot I don't think we should ever have a bluff squeeze in our range vs open from nitty UTG and flat from rock MP.

I deeply respect your poker skills and posts (you should know that by now), and I also don't rule out an exploitative fold.

I merely object to the position "they always have it here". They don't. Preflop rocks are exactly the players that can most profitably bluff more than their fair share. You are most likely not up against someone who realizes this. But it is here that the pot odds enter. Hand strength combined with the possibility that is there that he is bluffing/testing the waters with a Q makes this into a call that cannot be that bad, even versus the population of nits because they aren't all the same.
