Strongly smells like A high flush but we get so good odds that I would call and then punch myself. Sometimes he can do this with straight or lower flush.

I would bet bigger on turn and maybe just call the river donk...

Any case, I was thinking about the following theory in the Mental Game of Poker in which they explain how the brain works (according to their theory):

The first level is where all the most important functions of the brain are stored (heart rate, breathing, balance and sleep/wake cycles). Second level is the emotional system and third level are the higher brain functions (thinking, planning, perception, awareness, organization and emotional control). As a rule of thumb:
When the emotional system becomes overactive, it shuts down higher brain functions.
In other words, there is a threshold that you can pass where you will no longer be able to use those third level brain functions.

Now, the comment YohanN7 made here was exactly my thought as well. We have 2 great hands (straight and flush). Could it be that this caused my brain to become overactive and not think about the probability that villain easily could have the A-high flush? Was this my (and perhaps others') threshold?

He can donk with lower flush and sometimes with straight. You miss a lot of value from the lower flushes if you don't go all-in otr.

Think it this way: you only lose to A♦:x flush but there is a lot more flush combos that you beat.

Don't be so results orientated when he shows up here with the nuts. He doesn't have them all the time.

I am not too concerned about raising a block bet with second nuts. I am more concerned about things like making 3x pot bet hero calls on the theory that villain must be bluffing because he bets so big.

The main tip is: never look st the graph or profit/loss while playing. This may affect your decisions and get you to play worse. ..

Yes true. HM2 has the 'active session' tab, which is actually quite convenient with all the info and you can mark those hands. I guess you can better just mark those hands afterwards.

I think that you just don't have enough of experience yet. I remember when I first started playing poker I was like you- Checking results and getting frustrated if I lost a bin or two. I read the mental game of poker aswell, It is really good book. Do the exercises where you have to write things down on paper(don't remember exactly what). They helped me.

Now that I have experience etc.etc. I don't get fustrated so easily and running below ev or losing 5 bins doesn't feel bad.

Playing omaha and heads up nlhe helped me to get over the variance as well since the swings in those formats are bigger than in 6max nlhe.

So: play and play poker and just accept the variance. It will take time but you will understand it better when you have more experience in the game.

That is probably a good tip Very time I double up, I rush into the chip graphs in the MTT lobby And if I am playing/running very well, I usually pull all the chip graphs up at break and stare at them

You can do the same in "Reports" -> Sessions Just turn off net won usd and bb/100 (in the first chart). Below's one with all the hands played in session as well as marked hands (use f8 and f9)
