A pot with a lot going on. Not many hands on anyone. My view is SB is a fairly solid player but probably ABC. BB is def. LAG and can be expected to put lots of chips in with decentish type hands but probably not much of a hand reader.

I have not been dealt a set in an uncountable number of hands -- not that makes any difference here :f_eek:

Can you unpick this situation and suggest best line for extraction / escapements !!??

PokerStars - $0.05 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 4 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

CO: 108.4 BB (VPIP: 21.43, PFR: 14.29, 3Bet Preflop: 14.29, Hands: 15)
Hero (BTN): 108.2 BB
SB: 100 BB (VPIP: 21.21, PFR: 18.18, 3Bet Preflop: 6.67, Hands: 35)
BB: 152 BB (VPIP: 38.24, PFR: 26.47, 3Bet Preflop: 7.69, Hands: 34)

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has 7♦ 7♠

CO raises to 2.4 BB, Hero raises to 8.6 BB, SB calls 8.2 BB, BB calls 7.6 BB, CO calls 6.2 BB

I think SBs PF cold-call is exactly what is looks like -- it was made very quickly so no thought involved.

Flop: (34.4 BB, 4 players) J♥ 7♣ T♣
SB checks, BB checks, CO checks, Hero bets 21.8 BB, SB calls 21.8 BB, BB raises to 143.4 BB and is all-in, fold, Hero ...

SBs check-call on the Flop was also made within 2 seconds -- just as PF so pretty much an indication he knows how he stands.
LAGs shove took only a few seconds also -- so again it must be decent hand.

Well, I do not get the idea of us 3 betting...
As played, x/push mw is very strong and I am not calling with the smallest set.

This is a call pre. Why did you 3bet?
We hit our set otf. It is bottom set but I see no other option than call BB's shove. Sometimes it is higher set, sometimes overpair and sometimes broadways with flushdraw?

77 is plenty good enough to 3-bet preflop versus CO unless you are a total nit preflop. 4-handed check-raises with 2 calls between certainly does not rule out strong hands, JJ, TT and 89s are his most likely holdings. Bluffs should be few and far in between when 4-handed. Fold. Easy hand.

So we have several answers all with different opinions.

As far as the PF 3B goes -- yes the standard line is to flat here -- but I do not accept *this is played like this here...* because if you play by rules you get owned sooner or later.
Why did I 3-bet? Firstly it is early on the table and I want to pick some reasonable spots to see how opponents respond to aggression OOP or in position -- they could be standard spots or not. I want to know if players will cold-call, fold or do strange things facing aggression.
Also -- the blinds look like they are quite aggro and there have already been a couple of squeezes so I do not want to call here and have to fold when they pounce -- getting it HU in position with a reasonable hand is never bad.
I do not hink this is a bad play at all -- and there are other forums where raising is considered more *standard* in this spot. I got the button -- they have to pay to play...

As far as Flop action goes -- not one person has mentioned the SB.
I agree with the general comments of all about BB -- his range is wider but must be strong here. I do not really think he has JJ or prob. not TT and neither does he have AA/KK (he would 4-bet PF).
Such a big raise on the Flop on a board suggests either he believes someone has an OP and will call off or he wants folds. Nothing about the PF action suggests AA/KK -- at least not enough -- so no-one has that. My feeling at the time was that BB has a big draw type hand -- perhaps AsQc or KcQc -- or 89s / TT. If so then SB cannot have a big draw unless specifically 89s and AQs/KQs. Of course I am not in good shape against that at all.

My main concern here was not BB -- who I figured I have beat enough to call here and even if behind I have outs to his straight and can kill his Flush draws also. My main concern here was SB -- but no-one has an opinion.

FWIW -- SBs cold-call of a 3-bet OOP smacks of a very limited range of hands. He caps his range and is never calling there with medium or low PP -- a Fish or LAG might -- but not this guy. His hand looks like QQ-TT (he may 4-bet QQ and may fold TT as well I guess) or AQs/KQs. He might have AKs but I think he 4-bets that pre too. For me his range is strongly focussed on the few hands that should call here.
When he again flats my Flop bet then what else can he have?
Who calls QQ in this spot? If he has a big draw the calling for overcalls is totally reasonable -- as is shoving over my C-bet. And I expect he would not see a reason to shove a set yet -- though some would because of the draws that must be live here.

I hated this spot because I really would rather see what SB does to the shove first ... hmmmm
What does he fold that he already called with? If he calls then my hand is looking a lot like trash. In fact this is no longer looking like a good spot at all.
At best I am against live draws with a ton of equity -- but against 2 I expect to see a better set often too.
If I call I am praying for what? AcQc and JTs ??

Putting in those kinds of ranges:

Equity / Win / Tie
BU 25.36% 25.26% 0.10% 7d7s
SB 27.28% 26.64% 0.63% QQ-TT, KQs, JTs, AcQc
BB 47.37% 46.73% 0.63% JJ-TT, KQs, JTs, 98s, AcQc, AcJc, QcJc

I guess it's enough equity to call...but I hate it
