FT 6/7 remaining AKo facing 2 way action

It’s good to know what the paid out structure is in this tournament and without this info I would most likely stack off with AK against a 3x open and a shove of 2 unknowns. Off course you will end up in a 3 way all-inn, but AK isn’t far behind against both ranges.

That + this is knockout tournament, so UTG will call little bit wider which makes your AK little bit more valuable against his range. Also you are one of the short stacks so you have nothing to wait with such a strong hand. I would consider folding with AQ, but AK should be snap over shove.

I will bet my left testicle that neither UTG or BTN will play a wider range just because of the bounties. There is more than 13 million chips in play, so I assume there have been around 4.450 entries (if starting stack is 3.000). Therefore the first place probably gets around $600-700. It wouldn't make any sense to play for flat bounties at this stage.

If you ask me, the UTG open look strong, when a Canadian 3x-open with a 9 BBs stack.

Besides that, the first place probably pay multiple times of what people finishing outside top 3 will get. Therefore I think it is ok to call here and go for 1st, but I dont think we will be crushing UTG and BTNs ranges.

1st payout = $636
I got $129 for 6th, by making that fold I made like $30-$40 extra. ( Though would have trippled up had I called.)

I am also completely aware that it is standard and right call, It was a feel fold from me. Against a 3x UTG open I would be flipping a bit behind most times. When BTN shoves my equity drops further.
And I agree with malendes, that the players are playing tight as the pay jumps are decent.

Also I thought with 10-12BB's I had enough stack to play some play later.

Finally, I think it all comes down my own decision, if "I want to fold and step or call and rise above all."

I dont hate your fold and I disagree that this is a snap overshove, but knowing 1st gets 5 times more than 6th, I think I would call in spots like these in the future if I was you. You will bust 7th sometimes yes, but winning this hand put you in a really good spot to take control over the table and go for the first.

I agree with you that knockout bountys are not relevant anymore on FT because they are super low in comparison to pay jumps. So my mistake there.
But please tell me who garantee you pay jump if you fold? Maybe outcome in that situation was that you fold UTG call and win. But shorty has equity for getting double up. And just ask yourself what hands do you play if you are folding AK here? QQ+? I think that this is too tight because you are also short stack on turbo tournament. JJ+, AK is decent here I think. Yes some times you will loose and other shorty win. Shit happens. But when you win, you basicaly triple up and have decent chance for winning it. I agree that you should be tight because UTG will call probably all of his range against that shorty, so it is decent chance for you to get pay jump. But I think that you are too short for folding AK.

You could call but I don't hate folding in this spot.

depends on the definite payout structure but ICMizer says fold
PS 1500 man normal, call with QQ+ AK=-0.68
PS sunday storm turbo, call with QQ+ AK=-0.44

Neither of those payouts seem to match up correctly though
