Full Tilt - $0.05 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

CO: 239 BB (VPIP: 25.34, PFR: 11.75, 3Bet Preflop: 1.33, Hands: 987)
BTN: 145.4 BB (VPIP: 30.81, PFR: 18.01, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 216)
SB: 256.2 BB (VPIP: 23.96, PFR: 7.00, 3Bet Preflop: 2.82, Hands: 860)
Hero (BB): 159.6 BB
UTG: 45.8 BB (VPIP: 25.37, PFR: 3.73, 3Bet Preflop: 1.85, Hands: 140)
MP: 36.2 BB (VPIP: 23.08, PFR: 15.38, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 14)

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has 9♠ T♠

UTG calls 1 BB, fold, CO calls 1 BB, fold, SB calls 0.6 BB, Hero raises to 5 BB, UTG calls 4 BB, CO calls 4 BB, SB calls 4 BB

Flop: (20 BB, 4 players) Q♣ 2♥ J♦
SB checks, Hero bets 13.2 BB, fold, fold, SB raises to 26.4 BB, Hero calls 13.2 BB

Turn: (72.8 BB, 2 players) 6♠
SB checks, Hero checks River: (72.8 BB, 2 players) 4♣
SB bets 14 BB, fold

SB wins 68.6 BB

Preflop raise was obviously completely unnecessary.

As to the cbet into 3 players: I reckon there are relatively few sets and 2pairs out there given that neither Q2 or J2 nor QQ or JJ are likely in my opponents ranges, so I rarely get raised on the flop... except (semi)bluffs and of course QJ. Also a bunch of pocket pairs will have to fold....

As to calling the flop raise: I call the minraise for I only need roughly 22%, so I do not need all that great implied odds to make it work... if he is semi-bluffing himself with e.g. KT he is blocking one out of course..., and he will have a redraw if I make my hand on the turn. I think his most likely holdings at this point are QJ and KT

Preflop is ok.
I do not like the flop cbet. Board is hitting all and we do not have FE enough mw.
If you call the flop min raise, you should call the smallish bet on turn too.

There was no bet on turn. But the layout of my op might have misled you. I do not know what happened there.

Oh,sorry. I misread it. Turn chesk is ok and river is a fold.

I would not bet that flop. I think it is better to fold when you get raised.

My squeeze happy friends around here do not agree, but anyway, this hand is a textbook scenario of a big big big squeeze no-no. It is better to do it with K♥:3♣: if you insist on squeezing. T♠:9♠: is ideal for checking. It can't get better for that hand than this.

I do not like limped pots.

i'm squeeze happy and i check this. a crazy play is to minraise to sweeten the pot just so that you can get the stacks in if you hit something, but the downside is that you open the action

Checking is ok but I don't like to play 4 way in limped pot.

@Tomaloc: The min-raise and the idea behind it isn't crazy at all. Getting in 2-3% of stacks multiway with suited connectors may be optimal.

@Lassie: What is the alternative? To play OOP vs 1-2 in a raised pot?
The latter is to me exactly what suited connectors don't like. Many has the opinion that preflop play should, at least in part, prevent you from making big mistakes later on. Squeezing puts you in a good position to make expensive postflop mistakes. It is potentially the first leg in a 4-barrel bluff against 3 (to begin with) opponents.

Yes suited connectors benefit from higher stack to pot ratio, that is true. But still if we can play it only vs 1 or 2 it is better and the SPR is still good. I don't think we can even call that a squeeze. There is only limpers so it really is only a isolation raise. This is single raised pot still.

We obviously disagree on the nature of suited connectors. I like it cheap and multiway. You like it vs 1 or two, and are willing to put in 4bb more to achieve it. We are exactly the opposite, but life would be too boring if we'd all agree:)

Yes it would be boring to agree on everything :) I like raising more because then I can exploit villains more easy post flop and I don't necessarily have to play fit or fold. Also if we limp there is a risk that someone will raise big after us. But I get why you prefer limping here and it might work ok :)

You may be right. SCs are best for mw pots. I agree.

The more players the bigger the implied odds.

Yes, but raising small for the right reason (see Tomaloc's post) is still nice. I would want all opponents in, not out. The UTG (45bb) is liable to reraise/fold here.

I see it, thanks.
