The opp is unknown. Do we continue to check/call small bets or we just shove on his next bet? and is it ever possible to fold or if we lose it is just a cooler?

I would see it as cooler with 12 bb left.
My line would be bet flop, ckeck/call any turn for bluffinduce.

This is indeed a standard Cbet on the flop for value and protection and if he had a Q or FH it’s unlucky here.
