Hero checks, UTG bets $3, Hero raises to $8, UTG calls $5

Turn: ($20) 8♣ (2 Players)
Hero bets $15, UTG folds

Villain is 17/13/4 over 200 hands

Was this a good spot to double barrel?

I like the flop play.

When he calls flop it gets ugly & depended on villain, vs people with low went to showdown I like the turn barrel too. It's a variance play but +ev vs certain tight players as you show huge strenght.

On the flop your play is ok. I don't liek the turn barrel though. After he calls on the flop I put him on an overpair and your need a solid read that he is capable of laying that one down to make the barrel.
