Hey Everyone at PokerStrategy!

Let's start with the basics (feel free to "Skip to the end"), my name is Dave Jumpman and I'm from Ballarat, Australia. It's a medium sized town about an hours drive from Melbourne.

I'm 19 and I have been playing Brick and Mortar games with my mates for a long time. I have always done fairly well against my mates in one of the loosest and most beatable home games you will ever see!, but until a month ago i had never done well online.

I started playing with a no deposit bonus at VC Poker. I had been playing there for about a month and had managed to break even which i was proud of while slowly unlocking my bonus dollars from the site. Anyway a guy i met there recommended i check out this site and thats how i got here!

I passed the test and got my $50 and put it into party poker. I still had $15 dollars at VC. I decided to specialise in S&G's because i thought learning strategy there would help in live games!

It was a slow start with my PP BR getting down to $38 at one point and after three weeks i managed to get it back up to $58.

I kept reading the strategy sections and watching videos and after a while i found myself winning more and more of the PP $1 sit and goes.

So that's the story up until the point i decided i may as well keep a blog.

Current Bankroll:
PartyPoker: $107.10 USD
VC Poker: $35 USD

Hey mate thanks for reading. Always good to hear from a fellow Aussie.

My Party Poker bankroll has been very frustrating as i have only managed break even however i suppose this can't be too disappointing due to the fact that i have now at least cleared the bonus.

PP Bankroll: $112

My VC account was left neglected for a while because i'd rather play at just one site at a time to make sure i clear bonuses in time. I got back on to VC and decided due to the fact there wasn't enough money to warrant withdrawing it i would take a "hail mary" approach to my bankroll there. I registered at my first real money MTT for $8 (due to currency exchange at VC).

There were about 60 entrants and i placed second to get my BR at VC to $110

So I decided to take $90 out and have a dip at a $20 tourney ... i was happy to lose it and thought even a slim chance at propelling my BR forward would be a bit of fun at no risk to me.

The first hand i lose about 300 of my starting 1500 when i have to fold JJ to an unfavourable flop.

Third hand i raise with qq's, BBcalls
Flop comes 6 7 J
BB raises 200
I raise 600 he pushes all in, i call.

He turns over a 67o ... sick but o well what can you do.

VC BR: $90

Hi DaveJumpman!

It's always nice to a new blog of a SNG player. There don't seem to be that many SNG players in the english community or at least not active ones..

I think it is actually a very nice success that you managed to stay breakeven at the party's 1$ SNGs as a beginner (well online beginner at least) so congrats on that. The thing with the 1$ SNGs at Party is that the rake is incredibly high (25% I think) so it's really really hard to make any profit there. Now if you can withdraw your VC bankroll and move it to Party you should have more than enough to move to the 3$ SNGs which should be actually easier for you to beat since the rake is lower there..

Also it might be a good idea to download PokerTracker3 to monitor and graph your results.. There is a 30 day free trial.
