(HELP) Variance? Bad play? HU!

Hello ALL!

Im HU player, playing NL100. This is my graph for 2016! :f_drink:

What to say, I had a rough start this year in January, but then I started to win. As u see I have bad run all year. For two moths now Im under EV almost every day I play, so this started to confusing me and I started to doubt in my skills. I have some tilt issues like I cant stop playing while Im loosing 5 buy'ins. I stopped when Im down like 8 or 10 Buy'ins.

Its true that I dont learn a lot about strategies, ok, I dont learn at all, Im just playing, playing, playing 6 days/week for 8 hours/day.
If u look at my graph, what is this? Normal variance? Sick variance?

Please give me your advices how to fight against this, how to learn about 2016 strategies and so on.....

Regards,
Franco

Hi FrancoLetti,

Welcome to PokerStrategy :welcome:

To me that already looks like sick variance :f_biggrin: I have seen similar runs before so it is nothing totally abnormal. Since you can't change how lucky/unlucky you are, I think it would be best to start with fixing the tilting problems. I have some experiences about that and I know that tilt might sometimes cost you a lot of money. Reading The Mental Game of Poker might help you.

You could use one of our free poker money and bonus offers. That way you will get strategy points by playing poker and you will get access to more advanced study material :)

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask :f_thumbsup:

Thanks la55i for your reply. Yes, first thing im going to do is my tilt problem. I dont tilt like monkey, to do stupid things, like going on higher limits or to throw my stacks away with some BS hand. I have a problem that I dont respect the rule of 5 BI stoploss.
Its hard, because I dont know if my game is ok - how I play or is just a sick variance and I must keep playing like that. What can I do? Hire some coaching or what?

I would love to see more players to give me some advices.

Regards,
Franco

Hi Franco and welcome to PokerStrategy :welcome:

I agree with La55i that with such swings, the best thing to do is spice up your mental game :) Nothing specials about the amount of variance you have encountered although I feel for you :f_thumbsup:. You don't need to have a huge problem but for sure there must be a balance between technical and mental skills. Please, if you decide to buy the Mental Game of Poker, make sure to do the assignments seriously and as extensive as possible to get a really clear picture about yourself towards the game :)

With regards to coaching, it really depends what is your playing style. Do you play more aggressively or passively? Different coaches have different playing styles and I would choose the one that best fits you.

Kind regards,

Hesticus :f_drink:
