To Omaha, or not to Omaha? PLO Newbie

Pretty good way to get started is to read free ebook PLO From the Scratch (you can easily find it via google). It has all the basic information. It is a bit old, but the basics are still there.

To Zoom or not to Zoom is an endless debate. Zoom is easy, and you don't have to worry about table selecting, dynamics or imagos. But then again the average VPIP of opponents is much lower than at normal table, which means that it's harder to make money.

With regards the zoom, would it be easier to get a general grasp of other players plays and ranges playing regular tables? Maybe its not as important at the lowest stakes but I assume the higher the stakes the more zoom inclined I should be?

What sites would you recommend playing on to start off? Is it worth playing on stars or would I be best to go to other networks?

Stars has the best traffic, which means that you have games running 24/7. It also has the best regs overall, but at smallest stakes I wouldn't worry about that. The key is what are your goals? If you are focusing on learning, then Stars might be the best place as you don't have to worry about not having games running.

But I also think that when you are learning, it doesn't really matter where you are playing. As long as you are playing.

hi ! thanks for pointing to PLO From the Scratch from there they reference to another one that is The Big Play Strategy from Jeff Hwang they discuss a lot of intersting stuff that me as a beginner had no idea, good read !

Big Play Strategy was written for Full Ring nut-peddling. The only really good thing in the book is the explanation about hand categories and structures, and why drawing hands are so powerful in PLO. But everything else in the book isn't for modern 6max.

PLO is definitely worth it and you should play 6 max reg tables. PLO is great because the games are so soft, especially if you are rigorous in your game and seat selection. A lot of the core concepts of winning NLHE play carry over. Think a lot about position, play aggressively and don't open too many weak hands (unless you are on the button).

The most important thing is to be constantly reviewing sessions that you play and looking for mistakes / things you can do to improve.
