Pre Flop: (pot: $0.13) Hero has 7♥ 7♦

fold, fold, fold, BTN raises to $0.15, Hero calls $0.13, fold

Flop: ($0.41, 2 players) 5♣ 7♠ Q♥
Hero checks, BTN bets $0.20, Hero calls $0.20

Turn: ($0.81, 2 players) K♣
Hero checks, BTN bets $0.39, Hero raises to $1.15, BTN calls $0.76

River: ($3.11, 2 players) T♣
Hero bets $6.83 and is all-in, BTN calls $2.57 and is all-in

(Pre 20%, Flop 91%, Turn 2%)
BTN shows K♦ K♠ (Three of a Kind, Kings)
(Pre 80%, Flop 9%, Turn 98%)
BTN wins $7.91

I check call the flop as c/r will get him to fold out most of his range.

On the river i'm not sure what i should be doing here.

You should check and fold since it is obvious that he has KK in the hole?
Seriously, ..., are you thinking about inducing a bluff? This isn't going to work since all draws and their brothers and sisters got there.

I don't know that you are getting away from your hand that often but if he was chasing backdoor draws then they all got there.

His turn bet of $0.39 was very low trying to keep you in the pot because he hasn't seen any sign that you are strong. I'd have made it $0.69 if I was him and prayed you folded with my draw or if I had KQ this bet would protect from you drawing out to the flush on me. His call of your re-raise narrows his range.

This may have scared me in to checking the river inviting the value bet/bluff from the opponent, his sizing may have given me a clue or you do what you did and some days it's just not your day.

When he calls your xr OTT and shoves river I don't see many weaker hands. Actually I see none. All the draws got there OTR.

You misread the action. Also, checking and folding would be a crime punishable by the poker gods. He'd have air/55/Q5s/KQ and even QT about 100 times more often than AJ (that can't call turn). Backdoor flush? Sure, but shit happens.

Oh shit, yea I did misread the action
What do you think about betting small and folding vs raise?

We'd be getting about 5-6:1 to call, so he'd have to show me a winning hand.

I mean the dude is obviously loosy-woosy, and correctly not losing 80 bb when we hit a set requires transparent cards or maybe a board like 7♦:A♥:K♥:Q♥:J♥:

So what's the conclusion?

I think the conclusion is that you played it fine. Giving up at any point with your set wouldn't be good if we are not almost sure we are behind.

There is no conclusion, it is just personal opinions. But I was perfectly honest in my first post. I saw checking and folding as just a bad joke, and checking and calling as a pretty bad play compared to shoving.

I don't play much at all. Depending on availability of $ and mood, I play up to NL25 where I think I break even, but I am also happy to play lower, like NL5. I make hair-raising mistakes on an hourly basis or worse (that I hopefully don't make that often in the forums), so I can't really beat NL50. Where's the undo button?

Well, the conclusion is that up till the river, it is ok.
On river bf.

Suppose you mini-bet super-small OTR (which is the only way you can bet-fold, see stacks), and suppose you then are correct to fold to a raise (very explotative and therefore exploitable). I think you simply miss money the time villain calls with the plethora of worse hands that can call. A shove is no more than 65% or so (see stacks again).

Well, you may be right. Stacks are shallow.
