How close do I follow ICM

Hi
How close should I be following the ICM calculations when playing SNGs. I keep coming across situation where it seems bizarre to play according to ICM calculations. Here is situation that I am studying http://www.icmpoker.com/icmizer/#FUxDQl

In case you dont have the calculator this is the situation: CO(7bb) Folds. BTN (42BB)min raises to 240. SB(19BB) Folds. I am the big blind facing a min raise from the button. I have 11 BB. According to the calculator if BTN is Min Raising 40% and then calling my re steal shove with 20% of his opening range I can re steal with 43% of hands. Should I be following this advice?This seems incredibly wide to me. I also think if I did do this the BTN may adjust and would begin to call with some weaker hands.

I would try to follow ICM as good as possible, but too bad you need to have Internet explorer or Firefox to check your example here. That’s why I don’t know what kind of SNG this example is coming from and then It’s difficult to give you good advice here, but if the BTN has still a decent folding range and we aren’t playing on the bubble shoving wide seems fine here.

You should adjust ICM to Villains. So if we have very loose callers we should tighten our range. If we have nits, we loosen our range. Do you have poker tracker? There you can calculate the push/fold/call ranges according to different types of opponent models.

I personally use to push tighter against a :f_ugly: and sometimes looser against a nit, who just wants to fold into the money.
