OTF: betting smallish if he got no spade he will fold to any bet, if he got spade he is not folding. But he raises big, so my thoughs here: he got set, AA that gets me beat. Or he got AQ or AK with A of spades that I am flipping against. Or its a pure bluff. So I decided to let it go.

I don’t think you can play it too much differently than you did. Another option is to check/fold right away, but that seems tight as well. Against a tight/passive villain like him not bad, because I don’t think he will bet with too many worse hands and you don’t get value if you bet yourself on the flop most likely.

I would bet OTF smaller. You want him to call wide and small bet might have as good fold equity as half pot bet.
