Hi. I think this is exactly the type of hand you could/should preflop 3bet OOP. In this particular case you would have been able to create bigger pots post flop as well. Here you flop big yeah so top two with nutstraight. He Cbets and then calls your big raise on the flop. Raise here on the flop is good. Since the straight is possible (but no lower straight, perhaps a straightdraw with a QJ type of hand) I would put him on either a set (like an OR from the cut off they could have so many things) or a flushdraw with maybe some additional (backdoor) equity. He still calls pot on turn which I thought was very interesting. On the river he calls, I do like your bet though if he hit his backdoor flush well good for him, but that only happens like what 3% of the time (it gives 3% additional equity) and if that happened it happened he almost certainly did not have the proper odds to call this raise and a potsized turn bet with less than a potsized turn bet left behind on the river. He calls your last remainder of your stack bet on river, so could have been showdown value all along over 3 streets, or he now calls with a bdflushdraw that hit. He could have had a flop set, people tend to not re-raise sets on a board that has a potential straight as well. Perhaps he didn't put you on a backdoor flush neither, and that is why he didn't fear you having the bdf neither. I think he could have a set or he made his small bdfd but interesting hand nonetheless. The bet on the river I think is good, the pot is now already 150 bb and a 40bb cbet on river where you could very well be still ahead of any value hands from flop and turn (only the bdflush beats you now) but I now see that that is just what you had left behind. Deeper a check could land you faced with a huge riverbet and then it becomes more difficult in my opinion than when you simply bet 40bb and then get raised/shoved on on river. So like I said maybe a set called you down, put you maybe on some busted flushdraws that you played aggressively as well that he actually beats. I have seen it plenty of times people with (bottom) set just (check) call 3 streets. Would be curious to know what villain acctually had. GL

You just have to define a range for him and estimate how likely he is to bluff his missed hands.
