Hey, so I started playing poker a few weeks ago since I am always playing Black Jack and roulette in casinos. This time I fancied my chances at a more skilled game. So far I really enjoy it, I have played in 3 tourneys and came 6th, 11th and I cant remember my first time but it wasn't that great. Anyway, my questions is. How do I hold my chips after gaining a lot in the second stage of the tourney?

Buy in is 10k, and their were two tables left, and I had around 50k chips which was above average and then for some reason I was getting terrible hands and just eventually ran out of chips due to blinds etc. Do I need to bluff more to retain the chips or is it all about luck of cards?

In a way, yes. Stealing or re-stealing the blinds can add a significant % to your stack, particularly if there are antes. So you need to use position well and also take advantage of any tendencies your opponents may have i.e., Are they aggressive?, Do they fold to 3Bets etc?.
