It’s too bad we don’t have information on this player, but if he’s loose passive I would bet for every street. Now I would check/shove for value on the river, because only QT will win and he can easy call with worse I think.

I could be wrong here wrg this actual hand, but to say that there are straights possible on the turn I think is superunlikely. You are telling me that with a straight on a twotone superconnected board, he will just call and then starts firing with his straight as soon as the board pairs on turn??? I have seen it once or twice with people that regret not betting or raising the flop and then mistakenly firing a turncard that is really not good for them, but it is more the exception than the rule I would say. Flushdraws yeah could be, but again, not playing the FD agressively on the flop, but then turning the flushdraw into a bluff when the turn pairs? Unlikely vs standard opponent. Pure bluffs might even be likelier than that actually. That leaves us imo with boat vs boat scenarios, maybe he put you on a draw (since the betting initiative went from you on flop to him on turn) and maybe he thinks you have a busted draw and he hopes to intice a bluff by you on river? Maybe that is why he bet small. My final conclusion is that (even though I think it is unlikely) you will not get paid by straights or trips here on the river if you raise, but as I said I don't think he has that. Most players on a 9TQtt board even play a set cautiously from my experience as they have a potential straight out there to worry about plus the turn could bring a flush. So maybe he had TTxx? Would be curious to know. Anyway, my final verdict is that on the river, you will be confronted with a betting range that consists (from his point of view) almost exclusively of value hands, most of them you beat (except the QT as mentioned) and I think a large part (if not all) of his valuebetting range (boats) will also become his bet-calling range after you raise. Sometimes you will see QT here, but as long as his range consists of more combos than just QT here, you still made a profitable move vs his range. I would vary my raise sizes here, sometimes I would shove, sometimes I would 3x it. GL SS.

Thanks for your inputs. The straight he can have on turn is mainly J8, but will most ppl turn it to bluff when I check, I guess not. I guess it would be better against known aggressive player.

Ah well thanks for letting us know the result SS. I did consider him tripping up on the turn, that is also why I mentioned it in my initial response. I would just have never thought he would call a raise with that. I am happy you raised, but his call with trips(boat-blocker ♦)/straight surprises me nonetheless. Wow. Yeah ok well good for you ♦ H obviously did not think in ranges, and yes you could have busted FD but yeah if he really put you solely on that he made a mistake. But like Kyyberi always says, if opponents don't make mistakes, we don't make $$$. So yeah well played by you and unusual call by villain.
