Hello everyone :f_drink:,

another hand I would like some input on. A ton of callers preflop, so I decide to go for a big raise, as flatting seems to be a bad play here as it is basically throwing money down the drain with so many callers. Villain seems kinda active and somewhat aggressive (at this point he had an AF of 11 - but it doesn't say much due to the small sample size, he definitely didn't play like a maniac and doesn't seem fishy).

Even though I have TPTK, the board is pretty bad and after flop CBet, I decide to go for pot control OTT, as the effective stack size left behind is pretty awkward. Villain's bet is pretty big compared to the pot, so after thinking it through, I decide to fold as I think on this board I may be very often behind, plus if I decided to call his big turn bet, I pretty much commit myself for the rest of the hand.

I really dislike the way I played this hand, looking at it, I think the sizings may not be very good, both preflop and flop. Due to my sizing, the SPR of the pot OTF is 2.5 which is in that awkward zone where I should contemplate stacking off with my TPTK. On the other hand, I can't exactly figure out how to play things differently, as raising smaller preflop probably gets me more callers as their odds improve. Any help would be appreciated.

I think it is close. As played I would probably call once because check folding looks too weak to me. But instead of checking, I think you would maybe bet the turn and then plan to give up.

It feels very weak to me as well, that's why I hate it. But I think the size of the pot / effective stack is kinda screwing me over (I screwed myself over) here. I can't bet 1/2 pot OTT, as I feel that pretty much commits me if Villain calls no matter what. If I bet 1/3 pot or smaller, I am showing a lot of weakness (being afraid of Flush etc.), Villain can easily shove over me (or if he bets River for the rest of his stack, pretty much the same story), I pretty much have to fold and I just sank more money into this hand.

Maybe I could give myself more maneuverability by betting flop smaller (1/3 pot?), but that doesn't protect my hand properly against FDs and whatnot. Same with raising preflop smaller, therefore the pot is smaller - but that very likely gives me a MW pot with more callers and my hand is in a lot of trouble on this board, so again I am screwed. Somehow, this just feels bad all around :f_frown:.

We can bet turn and fold vs aggression.

I like to bet flop a bit less than 1/2 psb and would bet turn here as well.

Put him all in on turn. He has only $4 left. Bet flop bigger for that matter. Or you can bet smaller both flop and turn if you decide to be a wimp and bail out later.
