180man turbo final table hand

This is the Final Table if that was not clear.

First, I have moved your hand to our tournament hand discussion board. Then you get better feedback and everyone is posting 27+ player SNG hands there.

It’s weird he isn’t shoving right away, but without any reads on him I would most likely still stack off. Especially if this is his standard opening size.

I think you played fine, its UTG that made a mistake.

What did he think he was ahead off?
He's 50/50 against all pairs >99
Behind any A, any K with a kicker equal to or <J, any equal to or <TT
He's only ahead if he thought you would shove any K, Qx, suited connectors
That would only be a small portion of your range.
I think he tried to steal the pot and when shoved on figured he had the odds (28%)?

Thanks for the feedback! I agree that he made a mistake calling, and it's always a little bitter to go out fifth in these.
I recognized the 3BB UTG raise as an attempt to steal dead money, as a decent hand would bet 2BB, max 2.5BB to induce a push. So I knew a was ahead and was fine with pushing and think I made the right decicion.

You should expect someone will raise more with stronger hands than as steal, but if you think it’s the other way around for him it’s smart to make a note about this.

Indeed! From his position i would expect him to be raising like that with weak aces and small pairs, Premiums wouldn't be played like that on the final table with 5 people left, at least that's my experience and i was right in this case. I did make a note

I think a big UTG raise/push range is pretty wide in these 180'mans when blinds are high. At the final table, I think putting him on top 25% of range atleast is fair, maybe alot wider too in some cases. With my read too exclude premiums I have 66% equity here, even with premiums I have 60% equity against his range.
