How does your live poker strategy go?
Playing at my local casino its absolutely full of pure gold calling stations and maniacs and really not a single good player in there.
People 3 barrelling with nothing people calling 3 barrels with bottom pair and really not talking skill.
4 players to the flop 50bb raises, 200bb pot on the flop and then 3 3 callers of donk all in. (Preflop called (67o) (QQ) (8To) its madness and its fantastic money to be made.
My question is how do you adapt to that??
Here is what i was going for:
Just in cheap pre with semi strong hands that need to hit and play post flop accordingly because my hands like AJo mp/lp position just doesnt have the strength post flop against 3-4-5 other players if it doesnt hit. Being strong pre doesnt mean much here, Betting Pure value on this table. Pounding when i hit knowing its a LOT stronger than there range of roughly 70-90% hands regardless of raising action.
Of course the normal TT+ AK-AQ. get it all in pre if you can.
But these lesser hands im unsure what to do, i cant put in 20% of my stack 66 after a raise, (with nothing) but 66 example os extremely vunerable, Just to hit a set, that is no where close to +EV. So how do you approach this and make it EV?
Hand that took me out for the night:
Guy to my right is a calling station calling 3 streets middle pair for a 300b pot. Calling 3bets K7s for example. And donk bet tp ever time and raised to a raise with tp bad kicker. (Guy had two pair little stack) donk bet any pair he hit even little pairs.
Left a guy that would call all in 3rd pair with 3 flush cards on table to try river another pair (he said that to me) (i call there for river i may hit another T) (I KNOW WOW!!!)
2 to left guy that WILLNOT fold tp vs million bets in front of him.
So hero AsJc LP. (100bb)
Raise 3bb
Right call
Hero call
Left call
2 left call
Pot 15bb
Flop Ac 9c 2c
Check, right: donk bet 13bb, hero raise 35bb, fold, fold, fold, right: all in,
I have to call him, i have all his A pair crushed except AK, AQ. So i call because i also have the flush draw which i also think is beating him if it hits. He is very likely to do this with any flush draw and random clubX. So i call and he has 6c3c. And....
Turn brick
River brick
Which is fine... but how do i play this hand better? If i raise all 3 of these players are still seeing the flop even if i raise 30bb they are coming along for the journey. So i see it cheap to see what i think is a great flop, tp +fd great. Now get this fucker all in.
So if raising pre flop has no effect on giving me equity. I might aswel see a flop for 3bb rather that 30bb if my equity is still 20-30 vs 4 players. Thats not exactly domination the situation.
How would you have played this hand?
Another hand early in the night
Hero: JJ
Hero Raise 10bb, reraise 30bb,(maniac bluffer) calls, i eventually call. Didnt know if to go all in pre or just see any overs on flop.
(Im thinking hes only got the top 3% of hands against me)
Flop AQx
I check, bet, fold, fold.
He shown set of AA to me.
Btw i love live poker haha.
"I think hes got TT" 9 high board
"The only reason im not call your all in (150bb pot) (500bb effective deep) is because i cant put the (two callers behind me) them on a hand,
Fold, call, call.
I knew you had overpair, and i know you had tp 8x"
I LOVE hearing there advice aswel:
"You dont bet your good hands only your bad ones because you cant win with bad hands" calls with 2 high flush vs a guy that bet big (this was the maniac bluffer) wish i got into a hand with him oh i wish.
Gotta love these guys haha. I look for these guys online, they are rare but in a casino there is plenty of them and pure money to be made. Once i am rolled for that stake its going to be my second home haha. I just take pops ever now and again.
