SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has 5♣ A♣

Hero raises to 3 BB, MP calls 3 BB, fold, fold, fold, fold

Flop: (7.5 BB, 2 players) T♥ 4♣ A♥
Hero bets 3 BB, MP raises to 10 BB, Hero calls 7 BB

Turn: (27.5 BB, 2 players) J♦
Hero checks, MP bets 17.5 BB, fold

I am wondering if this plays better as a check-call OTF.
MP wins 26.5 BB

I think A5s is an kinda loose open UTG, but anyway. On this board I would not check-call. Bet-call is fine IMO. Without any reads on villain, I´d put him TT, 44, AT, A4 and FDs. And any combo draws like KQhh, QJhh, etc. I don´t think he´d raise any AK or AQ.

I would´ve called turn and reevaluate river. I´d check and hope he´s checking behind. If he shoves you´re probably dead...
