Hi everyone,

here I decided to call a raise from UTG+1 with 99. OTF comes an Ace and villain checks. Since villain is pretty tight I think this might be a good spot to steal the pot with a bet of ~1/2 pot. If villain then decides to call I can reconsider what to do on the turn. What do you think?

The original raiser is extreme tight I think and then you are only calling for set value here. If you use the call 20 rule for calling for set value this is an easy fold.

As played you could try to steal the pot of him, because he’s most likely only Cbetting for value and you could try to let him fold better hands. If he checked raised, we have an easy fold and if he called I would give up on later streets as well if we don’t hit a set.

Cheers,
