I think pushing here is the right decision, any decent raise will leave me committed.

Push is ok IMO but raise would have probably been better. You get called by a worse hand way more often if you just raise. And you know that you are commited so you can play accordingly.

Agree with Lubor, push isnt bad, a raise to 500 would have probably chased away UTG+1 but kept around the original raiser. You're only on the third level with 8 players left, just pray there's no ace on the flop.

What makes you believe you would have been committed otherwise? You still have a decent stack if you re raise to 450 or 500, and its still lots of play left in the blinds (assuming of course blinds don't jump to 100/200 in the next hand)

I dont think a raise to 450 / 500 is enough. If UTG calls, UTG1 gets a great price to call too.
Big assumption I know but if you assume that you are up against say Ax and pocket pair, I'm not sure how well KK plays.
Any ace kills you and i dont like pricing anyone with pp in to the pot just in case they do trip.
So all things considered, I think push is right. Against one villain you should be big favourite.
Had there been no other caller, then a raise to 500/600 would be my preference and hope for no ace.

Okay, but what's going to call a re raise to 500? AA definitely, AK most likely, AQ maybe. PP from 88 to JJ. Only one hand here really dominates you preflop and his call would have told you he didn't have it.

So lets say he has AK, he has 3 outs to beat you assuming the case K doesn't hit. 3/48 is a 6.25% chance to hit...decent odds I'm thinking, and you can push a non A flop and still take down a very nice pot.

I'm not condemning, just trying to offer an alternative to pushing preflop with your stack and the blinds at what they are.

Its just a personal choice str82ace, I dont like playing multi way pots when I have a strong opening hand.
I would prefer to take down a raised pot pre flop than get involved with 2 other players.
Of course I want 1 caller (as long as he doesnt have AA) but I dont want 2.
I am happy to go up against AK, AQ, Ax OR an underpair, but ideally not both.

I hear that. Strong hands get very weak in multiway pots.

I think looking at stack sizes, UTG+1 wont call unless he has a premium hand - being AA, KK, QQ, AK - maybe JJ or AQ at this level, remember it is a $3 sng. His stack size is pretty much equal to yours. UTG might call an even wider range of hands, as he's got a bigger stack. Remember that this is a $3 sng - a lot of these players wont mind calling a raise with any ace, pocket pair, or hands like KQ, KJ, QJ. Calling a shove would be a different story.

I absolutely agree that you want to avoid the multiway pot - but I'd bet that your raise chases away at least one of the others. Your goal is to isolate the original raiser, because I'd be surprised if UTG+1 calls the reraise.

I wouldnt be so sure about UTG+1 not calling the raise.
Lets say hero makes it 500 to go. If UTG calles the extra 350 - bearing in mind he is getting 2.5 - 1 to call, then UTG+1 only has to call 350 in a pot of 1225 - thats 3.5 -1 on his money and that widens his calling range considerably.

I shove it preflop aswell, KK is a made hand so imo you can get the money in preflop with it (never a mistake anyway).

I even think shoving preflop will get you more value out of your hands, since more often then not villain will miss the flop with his A9s00ted ^^, so flop kills the action. Allow villain to overplay his hand preflop and embrace variance.

I agree totally.

On this linmit I usually shove in this situation and am almost always up against bad plays that call.

Even AJ, 22, 44, JTos.

So many times that in my opinion it is more then worth it to just shove and let at least one of them
call me. I would reraise just a raiser and no caller, and even then I am shoved over sooo many
times with the same type of hand. I have run into AA but nowhere near enough to counter all
the times I was ahead and held up.

Hi all,

Nice hand well played. Unlucky you ran into aces this time, but.. that's poker.
