How do u guys like this line? Wanted to rep a strong hand here with the 3-bet in position. What do guys think in general and what about the sizing? I only use the very basic stats. Villain is playing 24/14/0 (VPIP/PFR/3BET). I have about 50 hands on villain, not really a big sample. One of the first hands on a 1 euro progressive bounty on Pokerstars.ES.

Hero (Button) (t274,123)
SB (t44,880)
BB (t88,030)
UTG (t73,273)
UTG+1 (t131,281)
MP1 (t162,547)
MP2 (t136,581)
CO (t178,285)

Hero's M: 44.00

Preflop: Hero is Button with 3♠, 3♥
3 folds, MP2 raises to t5,450, 1 fold, Hero raises to t13,395, 2 folds, MP2 calls t7,945

Flop: (t33,020) 8♣, 2♠, Q♣ (2 players)
MP2 checks, Hero bets t18,990, MP2 calls t18,990

Turn: (t71,000) 2♣ (2 players)
MP2 checks, Hero bets t25,252, MP2 calls t25,252

River: (t121,504) K♥ (2 players)
MP2 checks, Hero bets t216,176 (All-In), MP2 calls t78,634 (All-In)

Total pot: t278,772

I have moved your hand to our hand discussion forum, because it’s fits better there.

The stats of our villain look like he isn’t a great player with a decent gap of VPIP and PFR and I don’t think a line like this will work enough against even a decent player in a €1 tournament and I would just call for set value and fold if I don’t hit. You don’t need to make fancy plays to get further in the tournament I think.

Cheers,

I dont like your line. As SDK said villain doesnt look type of guy who would usually fold that much preflop. Also you have profitable set mining spot from position and on some flops you can also continue without set. At least in HU pot.

Usually when making light 3bet you want to have some blocker(s) to range villain likely continues versus 3bet and/or some postflop playability. 33 wont block villain range and it doesnt really have postflop playability. Sure its nice if you hit set but that is rare situation. So most of time you end up making cbet and if villain continue will be more or less screwed.

As played flop cbet is ok as flop is not that connected but smaller sizing would do the job, e.g. 14k. When he continues I would just give up. Barreling with hand that has 2 outs and wont block any of villain calling range postflop make pretty much no sense. With river shove you probably get some Qx to fold but even that might not be the case in micro mtt.
