I do not have much notes on my opponents (I color code them, using all the 8 colors).
But This opponent had a note: 'DOES NOT FOLD!' :)

So the question is: 'Could I have saved myself 26.5 BB by check/folding?
What do you think?

UTG: 83 BB (VPIP: 80.00, PFR: 20.00, 3Bet Preflop: -, Hands: 5)
MP: 103 BB (VPIP: 18.69, PFR: 15.32, 3Bet Preflop: 4.96, Hands: 455)
CO: 98.5 BB (VPIP: 36.23, PFR: 12.32, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 142)
BTN: 96 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 7)
SB: 107.5 BB (VPIP: 25.00, PFR: 15.83, 3Bet Preflop: 2.56, Hands: 122)
Hero (BB): 100 BB

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB, UTG posts penalty blind 0.5 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2 BB) Hero has K♥ Q♠

fold, fold, CO raises to 3 BB, fold, SB calls 2.5 BB, Hero raises to 12 BB, fold, SB calls 9 BB

Flop: (27.5 BB, 2 players) 8♠ K♠ 4♥
SB checks, Hero bets 13.5 BB, SB calls 13.5 BB

Turn: (54.5 BB, 2 players) 7♣
SB checks, Hero bets 26.5 BB, SB calls 26.5 BB

River: (107.5 BB, 2 players) J♣

Spoiler

SB bets 52 BB
fold
SB wins 103.5 BB
Rake paid 4 BB

Pre and Flop looks fine for me.
On the turn I'd put in a check to let him bluff his hands OTR as we usually don't get 3 streets of value with our top pair and the board is pretty dry.
The river donk bet is for sure often strong but he could also do it with his missed flush draw. Of course he should have KJ most often here as he'd raise a set on the flop/turn already I think. For me our top pair is too strong to let it go here for half pot bet. I'd call.

Happy to hear some other thoughts about that :)

What was your plan on the river if villain checks again?

Check, I don't think I will get called by worse.

So when you have got the note that villain does not fold and you want to check back most river cards
Check behind the turn and call the river vs standard sizing
Villain has not really many combos which have you beat

On turn there are still hands that will call a bet.

Yes, checking the turn looks like a good idea to me as well. On the river, you are most likely behind, as we have seen in la55i's latest video call-call-donk is usually a pretty strong line.
