Is there any logic behind Pokerstars chest progress points accumulation?

The rewards in your Pokerstars chests are random, kind of like the prize pool of a Spin&Go. You can find a breakdown of the probabilities of each reward over here.

Note that they only list the monetary value, which can be awarded in the form of StarsCoins, tournament money, cash bonuses and some other stuff, usually in some sort of combination. This is supposed to be based on your playing habits, so you're more likely to receive tournament money if you actually play mostly tournaments.

Introducing these chests probably wasn't their most popular move ever, but it's what we get these days.

Ah, sorry, I noticed I did not word my question correctly. What I intended to write about was not starscoins, but the "points" measure the progress of the player receiving a chest.

I see, my apologies.

Chests are unlocked using rewards points, which are earned at a rate of 100 rewards points per $1 raked. Then again, you'll also receive "boosts" from chests (those yellow-orange things in the progress bar), which double your rewards points for a while.

I've been looking around on the Pokerstars website for a breakdown of how many rewards points are exactly required for each chest, but couldn't seem to find any clear information. Articles like this one, however, suggest that the amount that is needed for each chest might be variable, depending on how much you have played.

In any case, you can go to My Stars in the lobby to check how many rewards points you need for your next chest, at least.

Maybe someone else knows more about this, but that's all I could find for now. If you prefer to have an exact breakdown, you can always ask Pokerstars support about this.
