SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has K♥ A♠

fold, UTG+1 raises to 3.4 BB, Hero raises to 10 BB, fold, fold, fold, fold, BB raises to 71 BB and is all-in, fold, Hero calls 61 BB

What do you guys think to this call pre flop after villain 4bet shoves?

My thoughts during my session review were this: "4bet shove from BB. Villain playing 33/17 over very few hands. Call here was questionable. Villain is likely raising with something like QQ+, AKs. Dominates me most of the time."

Call. He's an unknown with 2/3 stack. AK is still ahead of his shoving range.

Would you mind elaborating? I feel that 4betting and facing 4bets is a big leak of mine so would love to learn some more about this.

I assume you mean that because he is short stacked his shoving range is wider?

It's not uncommon to see these type of players shove with random pocket pairs or Axs in similar situation. They could've slow played their monsters, plus your AK does have some block effect that they are less likely holding KK or AA. Thus, with the $ you put into the pot, it can't be a negative ev call here.

vs a guy with less than 2/3 stack it is perfectly nprm to call.

Thanks guys. Something I’ll definjtely look out for in the future! Can we take this further and look at other stack sizes or is it generally anybody less than 100BB?

And what is it that we are saying about these players? That they have a wider shoving range or a wider 4bet+ range?

Guys with less than full stack can be considered recreational players most of the time. A small percent can be experienced players that play a shortstack strategy.
Recreational players can play wider ranges and can play with no thought on the game. :)
