Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has J♥ J♦

fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 3 BB, BTN calls 3 BB, fold, BB raises to 13 BB, Hero raises to 28 BB, fold, BB calls 15 BB

I almost want to ignore this play due to how bad I see it was now (I was tilting last night after a long grind and a few bad beats). But wanted to focus on 4betting in general. Here villain is folding to a steal attempt 55% of the time. Given that the BTN calls, I figured that the BB was just trying to squeeze for the dead money. What I didn't consider is that villain is only 3betting 4% of the time (sample is too small to look at 3bet vs CO open but it was 1/7).

4betting is still a big leak of mine pre flop. Initially I didn't do it enough (like 1.3%) so I made a conscious effort to 4bet more. However now I feel that I am 4betting too often (5.92%), since making the adjustment to my play.

What is the optimal 4bet frequency for fullring and how do I find more suitable spots? It's surely not just a case of "I have a monster, I must 4bet" because that would be to easy and exploitable. How do we use 4bet as an exploitative play ourself? E.g. against a reg that is 3betting way too often against us or when we make an open raise with a half decent hand such as AQ from the BTN and one of the blinds 3bets us?

I am going to go search for some content to improve for sure, but wanted to get your guys' input too.

I prefer calling pre-flop with JJ. Especially against a tight 3better like him. Lucky for you he isn’t 5bet shoving, but than you had an easy fold. Post-flop will be tricky and if there aren’t any over cards you can Cbet and if he shoves on you it will be a disgusting spot.

I think it is enough to just 4-bet for value in these pots, like the obvious monsters (QQ+, AKo+), and with JJ is also prefer just to call here. I don't think it is that necessary to have a 4-bet bluff range on the micros.
