I played this hand against an opponent that seemed to be doing pretty, pretty well. He had almost an almost 500bb stack.
I think pre-flop and the flop were standard.
Assuming that he's a good player, his call on the flop didn't scare me too much. It's very dry and he could float with a lot of hands.
OTT I pick up the nutflush draw and the board pairs. I checked here to see what he does because the 8 it's a great card for me I think. He fires an almost pot size bet that looked extremely suspicious to me. I thought he probably was thinking about outplay me after a failed continuation bet. I thought he could have a hand like Q9, QT on a draw with an overcard.
At this point I realized that his hand is either strong as mine or he's got it.
I decided to call instead of check-raising to avoid being put on a situation where he calls and I'm pretty much done. I think the call OOP makes my hand look strong.
The river is a great card as well and after this turn I decide to throw in a bluff bet that looks like value.
I think he was playing a drawing hand with an overcard and that he'd never call this river bet.
Any thoughts?
