You can fold on the flop. I wouldn't call more than one third here.
And also preflop of course. You are a little deep so it's ok but it's close.

I think it is basically ok as played but as Floxy said, this could have been folded pre vs that 3bet or OTF.

I moved this to the hand discussion board.

Yup, 88 is the bottom of your range to call that 3bet vs BTN. 4bet pre doesn't make sense.
About the flop fold once you are there...is it that obvious on that board?

Hmm I'm not sure if it is that obvious but when we start to think about our range (calling a 3bet and OOP postflop) 88 is the bottom as you said. We have very small chances to improve but some ATs-AKs hands have overcards and backdoor draws so maybe it would be a good idea to call those too. With those hands we could have some playability on later streets. Then we end up folding almost 0.

What might feel "obvious" is that half pot is quite a lot here, that even on a turn 8 we aren't so happy (might be hard to get much value), and that on a turn brick he's supposed to keep betting often enough to make it pointless to float.
But who knows. Maybe he's cbetting big all his broadways like a retard to then give up a lot. It's totally possible. I wouldn't bet too much on it though.

We don't have position, cannot improve but to an 8 and we'll possibly face another bet OTT.
But can't we check-call and donk sporadically? His Ax would have an hard time imo.

Sure. Those Ax that aren't supposed to make the most of his cbetting range at all ? They'd totally have a hard time.
The problem is we'd have a hard time against all the rest. Like me with girls these days. Indeed. THAT pathetic.

For that matter you must apply the FPS ideology :mdr:

Yeah FPS could totally be my problem in that game either, but sometimes, even all your fancy play isn't enough because you're just facing the end boss of your stake, the trickiest reggirl.
Go see in the "I don't care" thread in the Small talk section to get what I mean. It's worth it.

Nice call preflop. It's a good idea to use Call20 rule. That way you can set mine safely and wont make a big mistake when folding OTF unimproved. Call20 - a ratio between amount you need to call compared to effective stack. In this case you are almost exactly 20:1. Good job!

Post-flop: we need to stick to the plan and fold to small bets as well when unimproved. Remember, we only make money if we stick to the plan for all streets. No set, no bet.

About the "Call20 rule". Does this mean you should call with any pair here? Obviusly raising the top pairs of our range.

And say the flop was: 2 3 6, rainbow. Would we fold an overpair like 8s?

I don't have an easy answer here. Bottom on my range in UTG is ~77 (I don't open 22-66 in my games). I f I get 20:1, I call all pairs except KK+.

I would only call OTF if opponent is very passive and honest on future streets. Let's say, he cbets a lot OTF, but then plays very honest (if has a hand he bets, if he doesn't - checks). Otherwise I x/f. If unknown opponent, I rather x/f, because we are helpless OTT and OTR and are drawing for 2 outs.

Another option would be to call down vs Maniacs, but be very careful about this. There are many better options for that. Like calling a 3bet with AA, f.e.
