i've decided to quit micros and just go for it. Yesterday I paid $55 usd to play in the Sunday Marathon on PokerStars. 15 minute blind levels, of one the best blind structures online. I came in 76th and made a $200 profit. I was also the chip leader at one stage, so I know I have what it takes to become a successful NLHE player. I know not very good bankroll management, but I'm confident I can build on it with only 4 buy ins in hand, because I think the higher stakes players play more cautiously vs 3bets and 4bets. Most of the time they fold.

I aim to win the Sunday Marathon AND then win the Sunday Million AND then play in the High Roller Club tournaments on PokerStars. I think I can achieve all of this by the end of 2019. I know very ambitious - especially by only playing poker once a week on Sundays, but I know I have what it takes to be successful - 3betting is key and 4betting too - when you know your opponent is 3betting you because they know you are active - why not put them to the test and 4bet? Hope they fold :)

Hey richierichnz!

First of all, if you already decided to go for it then i wish you all the best.

But thing are not that simple as you see them right now.
MTTs are very tricky and you need to have really good mental game and be very tilt resistant (and you can get that only with experience), because you can bust deep in tournament before the bubble and spent lots of time with no earnings.
Other thing is that you need far more then 4 buy inst to be successful in that format.
And then you need to work really hard on your game, specially on ICM when it comes in to the play.
This is like 1% of the things you need to be a winning micro/low MTT player, so imagine what it takes to be winning mid/high stakes player that crushes his opponents.

Not trying to demoralize you, but dont go head first in poker it is not very wise thing to do because you can end up broke and with shattered dreams :)

Thanks buddy. I was willing to pay $55 a week to play in the Sunday Marathon on Stars, just so you know. So since I have a 4 buy in bankroll now, that is just a bonus for me and I am happy with that and to build on it. I was the chip leader at one point in the tournament yesterday and my ego got in the way. I began telling my mates "I may be getting a $17K payday today" etc. So that lost me concentration and I slowly went down to the small stack with 76 left and that's where I busted, $200 to the good.

My official poker ratings ranking has also gone up to 93.98%, probably because that cash yesterday was by far the best one in my life.

I think I am good at handling tilt at the moment. I knew I made the right decision entering the Sunday Marathon - even though I entered without no sleep the previous night - as the tournament started at 3.30am in the morning. I know, no excuses. All I know is that I believe in my poker game and I know I can eventually win this tournament whether I go broke and need to pay to enter again or not is another story.

"Those who risk nothing gain nothing". That's why I play poker. :)
