5NL Ignition, 9 players

SB- $4.88
BB- $12.33
UTG- $4.37
UTG+1 (Hero) - $7.02
UTG+2- $10.97
LJ- $4.68
HJ- $6.05
CO- $4.28
BTN- $3.49

Preflop:
UTG folds, Hero raises to 0.15 with A♥:Q♠:, UTG+2 calls, LJ &HJ fold, CO calls, BTN folds, SB folds and BB calls.

Flop: ($0.62) 4 players
4♠:2♣:Q♦:
BB checks, Hero bets 0.35, UTG+2 folds, CO calls and the BB folds.

Turn: ($1.32) 2 players
5♥:
Hero bets 0.65, Co raises to 1.30, Hero calls.

River: ($3.92)
2♦:
Hero checks, CO all in for 2.48, Hero calls.

CO shows 6♦:3♠:, Was expecting to be shown a set of 4's or 5's but I feel the river card is very good for my hand, counterfeits any two pairs he has and reduces the chance of a set of 2's. I feel like the CO can raise the turn with a worse top pair like KQ or QJ, so should I be calling this river?

on those stakes ppl do not raise enough speculative hands to balance their good stuff. just let it go OTT.

I would consider to bet the flop more against most likely fishy players with a bet of 40-45c and after his min raise on the turn you need to give up. To many fishy players min raising with the nuts like this and you haven't any outs to beat it on the river.

Agree with SDK to make it bigger OTF, that way you worsen the odds for hands that are drawing, increase equity against hands you're ahead of and will pick up the pot right there more often, sometimes against hands that will suck out and you end up paying of otherwise.

from experience of the micro's that turn bet is just hard to play against - because it often means a strong hand, but some weird hands do get into the mix, I agree worse top pairs are included... and the amount of combo's in that part of the range are just far more than in the parts that have you beat, also hardly any of the runner runner draws are completed.

So, while the odds to continue are so good I think a call OOT isn't horrible... but when he goes all-in OTR, I think we mostly want to fold, and make a call only against players known to be likely to bluff this spot at least around 1/3 of the time.

Spots like these is where I think reads (or stats) become very helpful, it will make it more clear when the min-raise means ''strong hand'' and when it could mean many things.

just my two cents. everyone might not agree.

Thanks for all the advice everyone, I agree that the flop sizing should be bigger but in regards to the river I feel like folding TPTK might be too weak given I see many players call the flop with decent top pairs like KQ, QJ, QT and then raise clean turn cards and go with it on the river.
I totally agree that a set of 4's, 5's, quad 2's and cheeky straights like A3 and 63 would be played this way but given the pot odds(Call $2.5 to win roughly $9) meaning I have to be right around 30% of the time give or take makes me feel like I have to call with hands like top pair and over pairs for the times the villain overvalues a weaker :Qx:.

If I fold all top pairs and overpairs like Aces and Kings to similar logic I feel like I hardly call with any hands on the river expect the absolute nut hands like Queens full and 4's or 5's full which could be exploited.

.

My reaction exactly :spit:

63o is indeed a optimistic pre-flop and flop call, but now you have at least a read he's a big fish.

I always check the turn, maybe flop oop bigger raise better but turn card good the check-call and river easy fold.

Why would you check turn? Fish can call you here with 3X, 4X, 5X, maybe even 6X, pocket pairs, worse QX. It should be standard value bet in my opinion. Yes he can have 22, 44, 55, 54, obviously 63 but it’s much smaller part of his range.
When he minraises turn on this board it really sucks, and I don’t know if I could fold, but it seems to me, against a fish it’s allways nuts...

But you bet the turn what do you do the river? Bet/fold or check fold? If you bet the flop 2/3 and turn about 3/4 and villain call the pot huge and you have got only top pair. If come the king you bet for value, and also not if come 5,4,2, 6 or A. If you bet the flop 0.45 and turn about 1.30, you have got in a pot 1.90. And a pot about 4 dollars so you can not fold if villain only bet 1/3 or 1/2 bet. And most of players you have not 3 streets value bet only top pair top kicker.

Against regs you don’t have three streets, but against fish, ooooh you have.

Most rivers will be blank cards. He should be checking back some hands in his range if you check river.
Villain floating this board is not something I am expecting often, so check call turn is worse than betting imo.
As said, you can always triple barrel against fishes.
