Hi, guys!

I'm Tarciziu, I'm a 23 years old programmer from Romania trying to make some bucks playing poker :f_biggrin:

I started playing poker at 16. and I have played around 450 000 hands at cash and 4000 tournaments in my lifetime. I'm BE.
Had some problems with discipline (poker related losing some BRs at casino and life related eating too many candies :f_biggrin:) but fixed it reading business books and going to the gym (helped my mindset a lot).

Why the title? Because I started boxing a few months ago and its awesome so I thought it's a cool title :). Unfortunately I'm losing a lot of weight at boxing. I'm 6'1 (1.85), 182 pounds (83kg) and I'm trying to keep my weight however I can :f_biggrin:.

This will not be a "only poker blog". I hope we can talk about anything. I'm interested in investments (mostly cripto for now, but looking for other opportunities :)) , reading (business and personal development books. I've just read Meditations from Marcus Aurelius) and sports (football, running, boxing, gym etc). So feel free to leave your thoughts below :)

Back to poker.
In Romania I can only play at Pokerstars, Unibet, 888Poker and Netbet.
I deposited 1000 Lei (Romanian's currency) = 210 Euro at Netbet. I will play NL 4 for now, at 4-6 tables max. Unfortunately I can't use Holdem Manager here. So if you know some sites where I can see my cash stats it will be great.

My objectives?
I want to play around 20 k hands every month and just be a winning player. Think every move, have discipline and enjoy the game.

Thanks, @metalmonkey80. I will also take a look at your blog :f_drink:.

So I played around 2000 hands and 2-3 tournaments of 1 $.
I played NL4 and the field is definitely weaker than NL5 on Pokerstars, but the rake seems huge :f_rolleyes:.

My bankroll is now 1050 L ( 221 EU), but to be honest my profit comes from their new type of game "6+". It's like NL holdem except that the cards 2,3,4,5 are removed from the stack and set is bigger than straight and flush is bigger than full house :f_ugly:. This game attracts all kinds of fishes ( probably why I played it :f_biggrin: ), but I don't think it will help my NL Hold'em game. I don't know what to do : To play them for bigger BB / 100 or play only NL HL.

So I played some <2 EU tournaments and I ran deep in 0.5 EU Rebuy.
In last 3 I lost KK vs 22 and I was left with 200k, chip leader 1 200 k, and the other one 400 k.

Fast forward I'm heads up with the guy that broke my KK.

Last hand of the tournament:
Hero ( 1 100 K ) Villan 850 k. Blinds 12.500 / 25 000
I have 33 in the BU. I limp. Villan raise to 100 K. I call.
FLOP: 8 T 3 rainbow
Villan bet 143 k. I call
TURN: K
Villan bet 246 K. I call
RIVER: 6. Villan shoves. I call. He shows QJs :f_biggrin:

I won 22 EU.
New BK : 1150 L (242 EU).

I will see how it goes and probably at 280 EU I will have a 3BY shot at NL 10.
I still don't know if I should play the new format 6+. They are very profitable but I don't learn anything probably from those games.

So yestarday I lost some money to a whale on 6plus but today I played some tournaments, including the 1 EU Super Turbo 250 EU GTD.

I was 4 / 118 and in last hand I lost A9o vs AKo (so I can't complain), but funny that the villan in last 6 won an all in hand A9o vs AK, board x 9 K x 9 :f_biggrin:. He managed to win the tournament after all.
For my 4th place I got 27 Eu. First place 77 :f_frown:

New bankroll 1221 L ( 257 EU).
I don't know if I should take a shot at NL 10. Maybe 2 tables NL4 and 2 NL 10.
Also I think I will give up on 6plus game, even though there are some crazy fishes, but the variance is huge and it doesn't help my game.

So some stats from the start of the blog.

Game Type________ Profit______Hands
6Plus Holdem_____ 2 EU_______579
NL 4 _____________ -3 EU_______1755
NL2_______________-2 EU_______ 356
MTT 1-2 EU_______35 EU_______11 (Tournaments)

So yeah, the tournaments are easier but I can't play them all the time and the variance is higher. And the sample size is really small.
I will continue to play NL4 for now and see where it goes. I have 25 BY for NL10. At 28 BY I will take a 3 BY shot at NL10.
I feel like I'm talking to myself :f_confused:
Good luck at the tables ( if anyone si reading :f_biggrin: )

Would be a lot of recs on 6+ but you would need to find a solid strategy which may prove difficult in the long run

Yeah, you're right.
But I don't think that it's worth it, because on Netbet there is almost no action on NL10 - NL20. And I don't know another poker room that allows me to play 6+.
I only have access to Pokerstars, 888Poker, Netbet and Unibet.

So today was a very hard day.
I took a shot at NL 10, and my plan was 3 BY, but I lost from all angles, bad beats and bad play. A big whale that was right next to me had 60 + EU at the table. I can't remember winning that much at one table, having that many BY.

The thing is in under one hour my Bankroll went from 1221 L (257 EU) to 1000 L (210 EU).
I took a few hours break and came back to the tables. Again at NL10. I tilted so I even played NL20.
The result: My bankroll is now 815 L (171 EU). I played today 2K hands.

Many thoughts came to my head like "It is worth it to study poker now, when the games are much harder, and I know I will not be a pro.... Maybe it's +EV to continue studying programming. I will make more $ / hr long term this way".

But I will try to have discipline. So the new rules are:

1. Everyday I have to study 30 minutes before I start my poker session.
2. 4 BY stop loss no matter what.
3. Play only in NL4 and in bankroll (+maybe some small MTTs). No casino, no Twister (Spin & Go).

I will take a shot again at NL10 at 250 EU.
So I need to make 20 BY at NL 4 to get back there again.
Let the games begin!
