The rake is brutal. It can go to 30 BB/100 and higher, so you need a rakeback and a big one, so stars is not an option, Party has no much traffic, Ipoker has huge rake and stars like rakeback, I know nothing about TG, but I doubt that it will be much better.
If it was with normal blind structure and Pot Limit it would be nice. But NL with ante is like a casino game. You don't want to be all in pre, because only AA and KK are good for that, you can't afford to play too few hands, the ante will eat you, you cannot be aggressive, because it's now vital to see the flop, you must accept to play the strategy of the passive fish limping and calling. There are many weak players, but they cannot make big mistakes like in the normal NL. Ah and did i mentioned that the variation is huge? You need at least 50 BI as the absolute minimum.

Yes, I read that the variance is higher. One google result showed that it is 17% bigger. Didn't verify that.
My own (rude) thoughts were that in a normal game you pay 1.5 BB per orbit and in SDP 7 antes per orbit. So you actually playing one or even two stakes higher.

If the rake will be too high to play cash games I could try to play it in a tournament during one of the series. Or maybe Barry Carters announcemnet has some merit and there will be some sngs as well in the near future. But first I have to see if I even enjoy it and then - more important - if it's here to stay.

The fact that it is apparently a post-flop game would be nice as I wanted to start study a hand on the flop vs random and vs a face open hand. Maybe I should even start multiway right away. But that's still a few lines of code away.

Haven't played any tournaments, but I doubt that it will be good enough. Maybe only when the stacks are still deep enough. In the late stage it's again a casino game, shoves preflop and you'll have no choice, forget about the stealing. And in all in preflop there are no winners. Hands are very close in equity, a hand must improve to win, unimroved hands win very rarely with the exception of AA and KK, and which hand will imrove is a coin flip. Usually you will have 55:45 or at most 60:40, never more.

And between - there's still life which is interrupting everything...
