Consider the possibility that Villain has an Ah2h or a Kh2h. Then, Hero has already lost and prefers smaller pots to lose. This is not an All In Quality hand. I would not fold against a shove. But, I prefer not to go All In.
So I'm just thinking out loud. Isn't Ahxh or Khxh quite unlikely? What is the difference to KK pre-flop where you want to go all-in almost always? I think a Q high flush is quite a strong hand. You only shove with the nuts? And also, raising the flop to 25-30 BB is not == shoving.
No, I do not wait for the nuts to go all in. In fact, I make about 80% of my big blinds with All In hands. I like going all in with sets, 2 pairs, or better if there is not a flush scare (3 suited board). Sometimes, I will shove with top pair, top kicker. But, TPTK shove is less successful. Believe me that I love when Villains believe that an Ace high flush is “quite unlikely”. One of my best money makers is when my Ace high flush beats weaker flushes. With my tight, full ring game, I would not even play T9s (T9s is reasonable, but not my style). I only play AXs. I don’t even play KXs (KQx always and KJx in position). Thus, I frequently enjoy facing Villains with a weaker flush. Or just look at the possibilities in this hand. A2s, A3s, A5s, A6s, A7s, A8s, AKs, K2s, K3s, K5s, K6s, K7s, and K8s. That is 13 Villain hole hands that beat Hero’s flush. I did not even count the full house possibilities. No, 13 better flushes are not “highly unlikely”. However, I agree that a 25-30 BB Raise is not a Shove. But, I would not want to shove or raise for the same reasons. This is not an All In Quality hand because of the many better flushes. I won’t fold a shove but I prefer a smaller pot.
