Are the non-pair starting hands supposed to be suited or can they be played unsuited?

Unless your starting hands chart specifically includes an 's' for suited behind the hand, it can be either suited or unsuited.
I assume you mean the one from this article, which doesn't specifically call for any suited hands. In this case, suits won't matter, except in the two charts near the bottom, which include an extra column for suited hand.
It seems a little extreme to try to push all in w/ AKo, doesn't it?
The draw play seems a bit severe as well. They recommend pushing all in with all flush and straight draws? Not that I know anything but it'd be interesting to hear the logic behind it.
It should be noted that this is a beginner's article, with relatively basic advice that's supposed to be a decent foundation, but not necessarily a sure-fire strategy. Also, it's a few years old. I'm not sure how well it is suited to today's game dynamics in micro stakes Hold'em SNGs.
