UTG limp, I raise and get three calls.

I would have just checked back but is there point in calling versus this small donk bet? There is obviously danger of raise coming behind but at same time this didnt look that strong so I thought hitting turn J or T would often be best hand and we have backdoor nut fd.

Agree, his sizing looks weak, probably lots of weak hands and more marginal draws. You also have the Nut-BDFD and 2 overcards. I dont understand why you worry about someone behind you raising, it is not like it happens every time and it gives you an easy decision (fold) without having invested much.

Ott you can reevaluate your hand-strength.

Well not saying it's likely but if call is marginal versus donk bet in first place it's definitely not plus to have two opponents to act still behind. Plus we kind of say we don't have top two or better with call anyway.

J or T offer 4 real outs and backdoor fd one more. A is ok but won't be exactly nutty either. And yeah T also complete most likely straight draw which I somehow didn't even notice before.

there is an old pokerstrategy video where a coach teached this scenario i.e. if hero calls that shows already 2 of 4 players have weak range so blinds might take a stab by checkraising the flop.

I did this years ago and i had no negative experiences then but had another diskussion later on that said this is stupid and i looked up to my discussion partner so i forgot about these moves.

since calling as hero really says ‚im on the weak side‘ maybe a small raise is a good idea here

discuss!

Agree. I was also thinking about that maybe a minraise might be a good idea but for some unknown reason I did not write it. :badteeth:

Yes be careful on the :Tx: as it is likely that someone has :9x: :8x: straight-draw.

Imo it is common, that when 2 players called the flop, the turn often goes checked-through (with wide flop ranges of weak players) so we might realize our top-pair somehow. A :Jx: or  (13 of 44 cards = 29% !) would be worth another big to medium bet which is also nice. Sometimes we can have a free river showdown too and win it with a :Ax: , :4x: or :Tx: which together also makes some discounted because non-nutted "crippled" Equity that we would have been able to realize.

Calling is probably not a mistake as long as you are able to fold it later on against further aggression and also when you don't pay off with second best hands like on the :Tx: we mentioned. As there are so many nuances and details in PLO I would recommend to play not too many tables at the beginning. When I personnally play 4 instead of 3 reg-tables, my bb/100 drops significantly.

Have only played two tables to not get into spots where I would not have time for decisions.
