Pre-flop is a standard open I think.
On the flop I would call as well. He could lead with a draw on flop and turn, but if he bets so big has has most likely 2 pair or a better top pair hand and is folding fine.

Calling down would be fine. However, avoid it. If you know he's very passive, turn could be an exploitative fold. River is meh.
8 blocks the str8, but it won't matter tbh. Remember you have strongest aces.
