GG Poker - $1 PL Hi (6 max) - Omaha Hi - 6 players
Hand converted by Holdem Manager 3

BTN: $66.53 (66.5 bb)
Hero (SB): $117.38 (117.4 bb)
BB: $372.56 (372.6 bb)
UTG: $96.22 (96.2 bb)
MP: $121.53 (121.5 bb)
CO: $76.39 (76.4 bb)

Hero posts SB $0.50, BB posts $1.00

Pre Flop: (pot: $1.50) Hero has K♠: K♥: Q♦: 8♣:
4 folds, Hero calls $0.50, BB raises to $3.00, Hero calls $2.00

Flop: ($6.00, 2 players) 3♥: 4♥: K♣:
Hero checks, BB bets $4.50, Hero calls $4.50

Turn: ($15.00, 2 players) 9♠:
Hero checks, BB checks

River: ($15.00, 2 players) T♥:
Hero checks, BB bets $4.95

no reads on BB, Preflop I should have raised instead of limp.

I tried to slowplay this topset since I just learned that when we hold no additional equity but have good flushblocker x/call instead of checkraise is an option. so went for that with intention to checkraise turn.

river is super ugly but we also block a ton of better hands. I check because I feel fine with a SD obv but vs that small blockbet I cant decide wether to x/call and try to get a pot from Ah blocker here and there or checkraise and get all those better mediocre hands to fold and utilize my high flushblocker as planned on flop

the turn is a nice opportunity to donk-bet for value/protection. He is unlikely to have a strong turn-range (flushdraws, weaker combos, his 2pairs and sets should be less frequent around due to the low cards) and for this reason a turn check-raise may be not the best option.

As played I would go for the check-call otr without reads with 2 blockers (straight and second-nutflush) but many players are underbluffing in this spot so folding is an exploitative option against many players.

Slowplay is an option, but you have to think if it's a good option.

Think about your overall strategy on the flop with KK hands. We want to raise most of them, but we want to have some in our check-calling range. So what are the KK hands you want to put into your check-calling range?

Bare KK or KK with additional equity?
KK that blocks opponent's calling range or KK that doesn't block opponent's calling range?

Let's say we have KK65 with hearts. If you check-raise, opponent is going to fold a lot more than if we have KKQ8r. I would raise this hand, cos in reality using your Kh for a blocker bluff will not work that often (opposed to solver strategy). And there's a lot of turns that are bad for you and will cause check-check. And after that there are more bad rivers for you.

Another thing to consider is do we really need to have any KKxx in our check-calling range? Is opponent good enough to exploit us if we don't have almost any KK in our calling range, and how?

I would say we need some KKxx in our flop check-calling range aswell if villain is loose aggressive ip. Otherwise our turn-range is too weak on blanky turns and this might be a problem if villain is 2-barreling aggressive putting our single top-pair hands and missed draws to the test. If we have a single reverse blocker like the K♥: this belongs to side-equity aswell, despite ofc the blocker-effect is reduced. But I would say check-calling from time to time otf is reasonable.

I would prefer to slowplay with a check-call KKxx with additional equity since we are less afraid to give villain a freecard. We also hold reverse blockers to villains draw range, so his draw is discounted if he is betting it, he is more likely making an overplay with his made hand and more likely to be on a pure bluff.

By check-raising naked KKxx I am not blocking his draws so he is more likely to be on a draw himself and might call it against a raise which gains us max value by making him pay for it. On the turn I am getting it in anyways since the SPR will be low enough where top-set has sufficient Equity against anything.

I would donk the turn, so that he doesn't get a free card with his possible FD and straightdraws.

Should raise the Flop for those reasons :)
