Did I make the right decision?

Pre-flop I would open 3x most of the time. QTs is a decent open at a shorthanded table, but if this is full ring i would fold QTs from UTG. As played it's tough to continue after the check/raise on the flop. You are Cbetting in to 3 players and you can expect villain will only check/raise with a better hand or villian is a fish.

Is that you win this time, but I think villian overplayed JTo here.

Well, the preflop raise depends on a particular's table tendencies and usually, UTG opens larger that LPs. Thus, my 4x.

QTs can be a fold sometimes, maybe most times but as you know ranges can have some controlled variance. At that time, I just wanted to go for it as I did. Hope this doesn't sound like a desperate-to-play-poker move.

C-betting my top pair not-bad-kicker doesn't seem like a bad move. If players after me stayed in the action I would have escaped without losing more than 25-30BB more, which doesn't look fatal for the session. I would easily put them on K-T, A-T (although can be a 3-Bet preflop sometimes).

On the other hand, check/raising from the big blind made me continue and find his bluff. His river bet was too big for value betting a top pair or even quads or 5s full house.

I agree that he overplayed his hand, as well as I can fold most of the time from that spot, preflop and after a flop check-raising.

Cbetting flop is indeed fine for thin value, but multi way you need to be careful as well. After some aggression you should be beat all the time. Looks like villian isn't a decent player.

The flop board favors BB’s range. You want to bet hands that can confidently call a check-raise, for these two reasons I prefer a flop check. Also 4 handed on the flop

Easy turn fold. Unless you know they're a maniac which I'm assuming you don't as your 4 hands in.
I know live games often play looser but this is just too lose imo. Think you ran in to a 10% scenario where you catch a bluff. But this spot every other time, 90%, you're crushed.

But obviously it's live so it's the wild west and your own intuition is often the best thing to trust.
