TLDR: weird play vs lose chinese - skip the long text if you are not interested in the story and jump to the question / hand ^^
well its one of those hands.... hausierer watching me live pointed this one out and its also in my blog. since i've already spend a bit of time reviewing my own thought process i figured to share this here too.
He pointed out that i should not worry about KK(which was indeed part of my weird play here) and more about combodraws(as below a reply to this is included figured i should mention)
So i am aware that this was indeed a weird play, outcome oriented i could probably argue it was quite epic ♦
bottomline, while playing i already felt like i may be crossing a line 4betting, so please be gentle on that part and keep and take into consideration that i was up against a lose and quite agressive chinese player on the button here(37% vpip, a bit sad i could not find his 3bet%).
On the river i was still afraid of kings, which really didnt make too much sense, since turn is too dangerous to check kk behind for villain most of the time.... anyhow
the 4bet was already on the loser side, unblocking Kings i figured could potentailly get a fold from those / get info i am up against AA here.... we are ~200bb deep so a bit diffrent to the usual spots and don't have too much knowledge here. the 2 in my hand is kinda painful in the firstplace, but well, it is what it is - got lucky and should have potentially folded to 3bet....
As played when the K turns i don't think its accurate to think he never holds them here, KK with hearts / KKT9 etc will often call the flop i think. Is this enough reason to check turn and not just bink it in? probably not, but in the heat of the moment i figured to check (i also picked up a nut fd) and see his reaction, while i also didnt see how i could fold. on the river again i cannot fold but also don't know if i get value. villain bluffs it and i take the whole pot. overall super weird by me as hausierer correctly states... as played there is no way out on the turn ^^ in that type of moment when i am not 100% sure what to do i kinda go with what my gut tells me instead of following the "procedure". knowing i played this too lose in the first place probably influenced the whole situation in not exactly a good way.
So main question is, what you think about check turn / check river ?
