Villain 20/18 285 hands

Doing some hand reviewing today. In game not one hair on my heads thinks of folding this hand on the flop.

But after reviewing this. I show alot of strenght preflop and on the flop. When you get check/raised on the flop some alarms bells should have gone off right?
When Villain is playing 20/18 he/she can be considered a decent reg.

So i ran some numbers and a fold is certainly worth considering. But I'm still having some trouble coming to the right conclusion about the hand. What do you guys think?

Board: J♥A♠Q♥
       Equity   Winst   Split
MP2    67.09%  62.66%   4.44% { AdJd }
MP3    32.91%  28.47%   4.44% { 66+, A2s+, KQs, AJo+ }

Behind against A♥:K♥: 40.66% equity for hero
Way behind against set 9,90%
Way behind against K10 17,93%
Way behind against AQ 9,34%
Ahead of A♥:5♥: 60,51%

I don't think he call 3bet MP after open UTG with small Ace suited probably he 4bet or just fold being behind vs range which we 3bet on MP preflop. On flop after his check-raise and size he can play for pot (he doesn't run away vs 3bet all in I think).
What can You do? I think call is the worst option here because we put more than half stack and mamy cards on turn are bad for You (every heart without Ace of hearts, King or ten). 3bet all in? We get call from sets, AQ maybe this KTs (but I don't think he call 3bet preflop with this hand in this scenario) and strong draws. Fold is discipline here but in my opinion You can get away. Vs strong draws You nearly coin flip and nothing worse don't Play for stacks here.

Your sizing preflop is wrong. You shouldn't 3bet 3,5x IP, especially from MP/CO when your range is merged and you can even go below 3x.

That is where problem lies. Why do you assume he has 0% fold to 3bet and raise you with everything on flop? In general I think this is wrong sizing choice again. If you bet big on flop then AJ is good hand to xback and eventual double barrell from turn. Which worse hands you would call to triple in this spot if you were in UTG shoes?
General approach to this spot is to start with small cbet as board is dynamic and very strong hand on flop can easily turn into x/f on latter street. Also you dont have many natural bluffs there.

Size of the 3bet really depends on Viliian. Against recreational players who doesnt like to fold we could go for up to 4x or even 5x. Standard is 3x IP.

When Villain is playing 20/18 he/she can be considered a decent reg.

There are no decent regs on the microstakes.

As played i am gonna stack off OTF.

I would go for it on the flop. Straight seems unlikely and you blocking set combo's and QQ would most likely 4bet pre-flop.
I expect you could be against AQ, but villain could play a draw like this. That makes it tough to get away.

Because i know the outcome of the hand :f_biggrin: All jokes aside, I have trouble believing that gen pop on microlimits folds after 3betting this flop. Does x/r bluff in a 3bet pot OOP happens alot in microlimits?

This is also recommended in most of the coaching videos i watched recently. But @2NL I figured it's best to valuebet bigger when you hit a strong hand. But it makes alot of sense to use a 1/3 cbet as a standard play for good/marginal/bluff hands and to build the pot on later streets on safe cards.

The only 5 hands i would call his 3bet OTF are K♥:A♥:, A♥:T♥:,T♥:9♥:, 9♠:T♠:, Q♠:J♠:.

I have many doubts at the moment mainly due to being a little too much results orientated because i run poorly. It's good to read that you guys are also stacking off on the flop with this hand as played.

You can easily go all in on river starting with 1/3 too. Important is also fact that you will put a lot more money in pot on latter streets when your 2 pairs gains equity on brick cards against draws. I wouldnt increase sizings there even against known whale.

AKs you should 4bet almost always
ATs is borderline and probably fold to this sizing preflop and sometimes 4bet
QJs,T9s should be very rarely in range due to bigger domination problem against player who 3bets.
So it looks you dont call much too.

I thought you asked which hands i would call the raise on turn. UTG i would coldcall smallish 3bet AQs/pocketpair most of the time. QQ/AK i mostly 4bet. So not much indeed.

Why did you ask that question in the first place? Is it to show that he can be x/r bluffing with pocketpair?

I asked this question to show that you may be isolating yourself against very strong range.
