Hi everyone. I am kind of perplexed concerning a hand I played lately. I feel it was the right play, even though I didn't get rewarded for it. The summary follows:
Local casino MTT, final table, 9 players, 7 get paid.
Blinds at 10k/20k, ante 20k. Hero on the BB, 300k after posting blind and ante.
MP raises to 40k, we call with Ad 4d.
110k in the pot.
Flop comes Ac Td 8d.
Villain pretty straightforward player, on the tighter side, can easily cbet that flop with anything.
I check. The villain, who covers me, cbets 50k, so 160k in the pot.
I decided to shove for several reasons. There was about half of my stack in the pot and I thought that there was plenty of fold equity in the case he didn't have an Ace or a bad one for that matter. And even if he called me, I would be about flipping for a monster stack on the bubble and a great chance to cash big.
I hated the idea of slowly calling huge portions of my stack on several streets and end up with an Ace with terrible kicker on the river.
He called, showed AQo and we didn't improve busting out at 9th place.
In the end I'm happy with my play, although I know I am too aggressive sometimes at spots I shouldn't be. Something I am working on.
I guess I am asking if that is a correct play in ICM terms. Also there wasn't a really short stack player at the table.
