Woooooow that's ugly. Argh. Well obviously everything's fine up until the river. And the question is.. do we call? First I thought you made a nice fold here but now that I think about it.... it is decided preflop

Which hands do we expect this guy to cold call in SB?? Our samplesize is kinda smallish but this guy looks to me.. well, he looks a bit weird with that AF but I'm guessing it's a TAG/LAG (the preflop stats don't have to be correct he could just have a good run of cards, the gap VPIP/PFR indicates TAG). His AF is really weird but we really have nowhere near a good samplesize to measure AF.
What can he call? I'm seeing pocket pairs, AQ, AJ(s?)... I don't really see him just cold calling a suited connector there out of position which is why I have a hard time folding on the river because I just see one hand that beats us which is 44.
But on the other hand, is he ever raising worse here for value?? And the answer that makes sense I think is yes, AJ!! There's also a split with AQ. And considering how likely it is to flop quads, I think actually in the long run we're ahead here so I'm calling the raise even if it's a bit of a WTf call.

Looks to me like {AQ,AJ,44} (Which was explained very well by Fongie) and I'm calling.
(With the given range it's EV+ call)

What about JJ?

JJ explains the preflop call and post flop call.

But if I had JJ, I would be tempted to fold at the turn.

Thank you for that detailed evaulation Fongie. You are probably right about the hand. Just too bad I couldn't figured it out myself...
