I'm currently railing a NL10/20$ deepstack game with antes on fulltilt. The players are incredible, a lot of the things they do actually make sense. I don't get one little thing though.
I saw a hand where there was a raise pre-flop to 3.5BB's ($70). If someone was to re-raise I would've expected them to raise to a flat $210. But instead the second person raised to $258.
Why do they raise more in these sittuations? Everywhere else seems to flat three betting or shoving.
i've seen this being done before and often wondered why.
The only reason i can think of is that they are just annoying the initial raiser by raising a stupid amount and making odds calculations harder.
Because if you're deep, you faster get odds to hit something big ( SC's --> Big draws- 2pair, Pocketpairs--> Sets ) They raise the initial raisesize often more to NOT give them the odds

well in general you'd want to raise/ 3bet more than usual because theres antes at the table making the pot bigger.
If your in position you can 3bet to 3* the raise, if your in the blinds you will be out of position for the rest of the hand if they call, therefore u prefer them to fold thus u make the bet slightly bigger
